Vera French Community Mental Health Center company history timeline

1967

In 1967, the Center began to provide the five essential mental health services to the community, including outpatient, day treatment, partial hospital, emergency, and consultation/education services.

1985

In 1985, the Center Board established the Vera French Foundation, in order to continue its mission in an increasingly complex public and private care delivery system.

1987

In 1987, the Center entered into a lease agreement with Scott County, whereby Vera French assumed responsibility for the operation of the Pine Knoll Residential Facility, with Scott County retaining ownership of the property.

1990

In 1990, the Center began working with governments and community agencies to address the shortage of affordable, low-income housing.

1994

The Vera French Housing Corporation was formed in October 1994 to assist persons with long-term mental illness to obtain permanent, affordable housing that is linked to the Center’s support services.

2001

In 2001, the School-Based Mental Health Services Program was established.

2012

In 2012, the first Habilitation Home was opened in Davenport.

2015

In 2015, Vera French was given Rick’s House of Hope from Genesis and the Integrated Health Homes program began.

2017

Pine Knoll closed in 2017 with the 60 residents moving to either a HAB Home or one of our residential care facilities – Pine Meadows and Sheridan Springs.

2019

Two programs started in 2019: Crisis Stabilization Residential Services and Multisystemic Therapy (MST). Both programs provide services that previous were hard to find in the Quad City area serving adults in a self-defined crisis and at-risk youth.

Also in 2019 – the Carol Center, formally on 32nd Street in Davenport, moved to a larger location on Harrison Street.
