The only real ‘perk’ is getting a front-row seat to the chaos of an executive team in over their heads. It’s like watching a train wreck in slow motion, except you’re tied to the tracks.
Cons of working at Verano
The C-suite is the worst part of Verano. Decisions are made by executives who are out of touch, inexperienced, and driven by ego instead of facts. They constantly blame employees for failures that start at the top, reward favoritism over results, and ignore the needs of the teams actually doing the work. The culture of fear and finger-pointing comes directly from leadership and poisons the entire company.
Pros of working at Verano
The only saving grace here are the coworkers stuck in the same mess. You end up trauma-bonding with good people while leadership hides in their offices pretending everything is fine. The real camaraderie comes from rolling your eyes with teammates while watching executives invent new ways to screw things up. If misery loves company, at least you’ll never be alone.
What do you like best about Verano's CEO and the leadership team?
Honestly, the best part about the CEO and leadership team is the comedy value. You couldn’t script executives this out of touch if you tried. They make disastrous decisions, ignore expert advice, and then blame employees when it all collapses. If you like watching a slow-motion train wreck, you’ll never be bored.
How would you improve Verano's culture?
Step one: remove the current C-suite and replace them with professionals who actually know how to run a business. The culture is toxic from the top down — constant blame, fear, favoritism, and zero accountability. Until leadership changes, no amount of HR spin, slogans, or workshops will fix it.
How did you prepare for the Verano interview?
By lowering my expectations. I showed up knowing I wouldn’t get real answers about pay, growth, or culture — just vague promises and corporate buzzwords. If I could redo it, I’d prepare by reminding myself that the interview is all smoke and mirrors, and the reality of working here is the opposite of what they sell you.
How does your compensation at Verano compare to the industry average?
Verano pays below the industry average, which matches their low standards everywhere else. You’re overworked, underpaid, and constantly reminded that leadership values their own egos more than the people keeping the company running. To make it worse, the company simultaneously pays its C-suite executives more than almost any other MSO, despite the fact that Verano isn’t even remotely as well off financially as its competitors. Regular employees are squeezed while executives enrich themselves.
What's the diversity at Verano like?
Verano talks a big game about diversity, but the reality is the exact opposite. All of leadership is white, about 95% are men, and almost all of them have personal connections to the CEO. Women don’t advance here — in fact, they’re actively pushed out and replaced by men any chance leadership gets. HR plays a role in this too: women are targeted, scrutinized, and pushed out under flimsy excuses, while men are protected and shielded no matter how poorly they perform. The ‘diverse and inclusive culture’ they brag about in press releases is pure fiction. On the inside, it’s nothing but an old boys’ club that rewards loyalty to the C-suite over talent, experience, or fairness
What brings you the most joy at Verano?
The only joy at Verano comes from coworkers who are stuck in the same chaos. You end up laughing together at how absurdly dysfunctional everything is, because if you didn’t laugh, you’d lose your mind. The C-suite creates such a toxic, fear-driven environment that the only source of sanity is solidarity in misery. What passes for ‘joy’ here is swapping stories about the latest executive blunder, watching management implode in real time, and finding dark humor in just how bad leadership can get. It’s less about fulfillment and more about surviving together in a place where leadership drains every ounce of morale.

Pros of working at Verano
I joined Verano as a supervisor at a retail location in order to become a part of the cannabis industry and align my 15 year retail leadership career with an industry I was passionate about. After just 6 months I am so disappointed and quite frankly disgusted with the way employees and customers are treated that I’m ready to leave cannabis altogether.
Cons of working at Verano
Poor management. Low pay. No perks. Daily HR violations (racist/sexist comments, belittled publicly by management for disability)
Verano benefits
I can’t find one.
What do you like best about Verano's CEO and the leadership team?
Never seen, heard, or ever heard anything about the CEO from the company. The only reason I know we have a CEO is from Google. Leadership is horrid. Think crooked cop interrogation style leadership.
How would you improve Verano's culture?
Stop hiring drug addicts and find some educated retail leaders to join the company and stop pocketing all the profits. Pay your employees.
How did you prepare for the Verano interview?
I over prepared and now I regret ever being chosen.
How does your compensation at Verano compare to the industry average?
Below average
What's the diversity at Verano like?
No diversity. My entire pyramid is 75% white men. No minorities to be seen.
What brings you the most joy at Verano?
I no longer have any joy. I’m regretting my choice to join this industry and now see the value in the black market.
