SUMMARY

Summary
The Director of Commercial Credit is responsible for providing support, direction, credit information, and loan policies and procedures to ensure the overall quality of the credit union's commercial loan portfolio. Essential Functions
At the direction of the VP Commercial & Mortgage, and in cooperation with Executive Management, responsible for developing and maintaining the overall commercial credit culture of the organization.
Knowledgeable of State and Federal commercial lending regulations and guidelines (NCUA Regulation 723 and Iowa Code).
Knowledgeable of commercial appraisals, appraisal reviews, and regulations pertaining to property valuations.
Maintain strong knowledge of the financial industry, economy, market conditions, rates, vendors, and competition.
Direct and oversee all commercial credit underwriting and commercial loan portfolio management activities at the credit union.
Oversee all aspects of the loan portfolio, from developing loan policies and procedures to approving complex credit transactions and monitoring portfolio quality.
Draft and implement commercial loan and loan review policies to guide lending decisions and ensure consistency across the organization.
Develop, maintain, and monitor Veridian's commercial loan risk rating systems and loan concentration levels.
Create and implement proper processes and workflows to ensure a consistent and replicable process in place for the commercial lending and underwriting process.
Evaluate creditworthiness, analyze financial statements, and assess the ability of borrowers to repay loans. Identify and mitigate credit risks associated with individual loans and the overall portfolio.
Review large and complex loans prior to their submission to Loan Committee; reviews consist of making recommendations on loan structure, terms, and pricing so as not to expose the credit union to undue credit risk. Proactively engages with sales staff on loan structure and preliminary assessment of loan worthiness.
Ensure individual loans are risk rated correctly when reviewing loans for loan committee submission.
Understand complex borrowing relationships, including Investment Commercial Real Estate, Commercial and Industrial, including Owner-Occupied Real Estate, Accounts Receivable, Equipment, Non-Profit and Healthcare.
Prepare and distribute credit information covering loan quality trends, growth trends, loan product concentrations; work closely with other credit managers in reviewing such topics as local real estate data and assessing the impact on the credit union's commercial loan portfolio.
Supervise the credit union's Watchlist loans, work with loan officers and management to cure weak credits and the collection of such credits, or the movement of such undesirable credits; assist in the compilation of loan status reports and implementing respective loan action plans; prepare watchlist report for submittal to the Board of Directors for review.
Prepare, review, and modify, when necessary and in collaboration with the VP of Commercial & Mortgage, lending policies and procedures which enable the credit union to perform in a business manner, but not expose it to undue risk.
Participate in various committees involved in credit union management such as Loan Committee and Asset/Liability Committee.
As directed by the VP of Commercial & Mortgage assume responsibility for special projects; gather data and prepare reports for the Board of Directors and other members of Senior Management, audit and other personnel.
Regularly work with and provides training and mentorship to the commercial credit analysts to solve complex credit issues and ensure the final work product meets quality and timing expectations as outlined in the service level standards.
In collaboration with Commercial Services Management identify training needs of the team to promote growth and correct deficiencies as needed.

The primary responsibilities of the Mortgage Loan Originator include consulting members on products, taking complete applications, providing initial disclosures, and cross-selling Veridian products. The Mortgage Loan Originator is responsible for producing mortgage loans through relationships with realtors and other referral sources.
Essential Functions
Knowledgeable of and adheres to Mortgage Loan origination process including relevant laws and regulations.

Interview members applying for mortgage loans and assist them with selecting the appropriate loan program.
Issue prequalification or preapproval letters on pre-purchases.
Complete the loan application and communicate all initial disclosures to the applicant. Clearly explain disclosures, rates, fees and expected timeline to members.
Obtain credit report, income, asset, and other necessary documents to pass a complete loan file to processing/underwriting. Scan and upload these documents to Veridian's loan origination system.
Calculate monthly income and resulting debt to income ratio, including completion of self-employed borrower income analysis.
Recommend loans for approval by forwarding to processing/underwriting, or complete the adverse action/turn-down process.
Obtain rate locks or pricing commitments with investors. Monitor loan pricing and update pricing/fees when necessary to extend rate locks or based on changes to loan level pricing adjustments.
Obtain mortgage insurance premium quotes based on loan parameters to accurately disclose this expense to members
Provide members with updated disclosures when required and document applicable change in circumstance.
Communicate regularly with members on their mortgage loan, including updates on appraised values, outstanding conditions or stipulations, timing of closing, etc.
Cultivate and maintain relationships with realtors by communicating updates on loans in progress and attending real estate-related functions.
Actively sell products and services offered by the credit union including deposit products, insurance, consumer loans, and investments, to help the member meet their financial goals.
Communicate final loan numbers from the settlement statement with members prior to closing to inform the member of final figures and amount to bring to closing.
Work with members to resolve questions/concerns after loan closing.
Ability, availability, and willingness to work flexible hours to accommodate loan volume during periods of peak demand.

The Internal Auditor II conducts audits for all credit union branches, departments, and processes. Essential Functions
Assist Manager of Internal Audit in preparing a risk based audit plan for the credit union.

Ensure individual loans are risk rated correctly when reviewing loans for loan committee submission.
Understand complex borrowing relationships, including Investment Commercial Real Estate, Commercial and Industrial, including Owner-Occupied Real Estate, Accounts Receivable, Equipment, Non-Profit and Healthcare.
Prepare and distribute credit information covering loan quality trends, growth trends, loan product concentrations; work closely with other credit managers in reviewing such topics as local real estate data and assessing the impact on the credit union's commercial loan portfolio.
Supervise the credit union's Watchlist loans, work with loan officers and management to cure weak credits and the collection of such credits, or the movement of such undesirable credits; assist in the compilation of loan status reports and implementing respective loan action plans; prepare watchlist report for submittal to the Board of Directors for review.
Prepare, review, and modify, when necessary and in collaboration with the VP of Commercial & Mortgage, lending policies and procedures which enable the credit union to perform in a business manner, but not expose it to undue risk.
Participate in various committees involved in credit union management such as Loan Committee and Asset/Liability Committee.
As directed by the VP of Commercial & Mortgage assume responsibility for special projects; gather data and prepare reports for the Board of Directors and other members of Senior Management, audit and other personnel.
Regularly work with and provides training and mentorship to the commercial credit analysts to solve complex credit issues and ensure the final work product meets quality and timing expectations as outlined in the service level standards.

Recommend loans for approval by forwarding to processing/underwriting, or complete the adverse action/turn-down process.
Obtain rate locks or pricing commitments with investors. Monitor loan pricing and update pricing/fees when necessary to extend rate locks or based on changes to loan level pricing adjustments.
Obtain mortgage insurance premium quotes based on loan parameters to accurately disclose this expense to members
Provide members with updated disclosures when required and document applicable change in circumstance.
Communicate regularly with members on their mortgage loan, including updates on appraised values, outstanding conditions or stipulations, timing of closing, etc.
Cultivate and maintain relationships with realtors by communicating updates on loans in progress and attending real estate-related functions.
Actively sell products and services offered by the credit union including deposit products, insurance, consumer loans, and investments, to help the member meet their financial goals.
Communicate final loan numbers from the settlement statement with members prior to closing to inform the member of final figures and amount to bring to closing.
Work with members to resolve questions/concerns after loan closing.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Create excellent service experiences that promote the Veridian brand.
Understand and be familiar with Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) guidelines.
Conduct member transactions including: loan payments, deposits, withdrawals, transfers, etc.
Complete member requests such as inquiries on certificates of deposit, processing wire transfers, ordering and blocking plastic cards, ordering checks, researching account information, etc.
Actively cross‑sell credit union services by providing information to current, new and potential members.
Actively refer members to appropriate position and/or department within all Veridian Companies to best serve the member.
Assist members over the phone.
Consistently achieve established monthly and annual sales and service goals.
Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
Monitor necessary departmental files and reports, updating member information as required.
Maintains member confidence and protects operations by keeping information confidential.
Balance cash box per teller balancing procedures.

Relevant work experience in the area of customer service and/or cash handling.

SUMMARY
Under general supervision and in compliance with established policies and procedures, the Teller Service Representative is responsible for providing superior member service by conducting transactions accurately, assisting members with their financial goals, and promoting Veridian products and services.
