The candidate will be involved in all aspects of product development including ideation, design, implementation, deployment, and issue resolution. This will often include cross-team collaboration with Product, Marketing, Engineering, Security and Operations.
Skills
An ideal candidate should have the following attributes:
5+ years of experience with proficiency in Python or Rust
Hands on development and deployment experience with CDN (Cloudfront), WAF, Lambda, API Gateway, S3, ACM, Route 53 and other AWS cloud services
A keen eye for improving developer workflows. Knowledge of CI (Jenkins), automation (Ansible), general tooling (e.g. Docker, Webpack, Vite), and coding standards (e.g. eslint, prettier)
Able to automate infrastructure changes; CI (Jenkins), IaC (Terraform), Configuration Management (Ansible)
Demonstrated ability to mitigate risks, ensure compliance, and deliver secure, stable platforms.
Excellent communication skills (verbal and written), eager to learn new technologies
Bachelors' degree or equivalent work experience
Preferred:
Fluency in modern JavaScript and Typescript. Familiarity with JavaScript frameworks is a plus
Knowledge of modern CSS and familiar with utility first CSS frameworks and practices (Tailwind, UnoCSS)
Experience with front-end testing frameworks (e.g. Mocha, Testing Library, BrowserStack, StoryBook)
Familiarity with RESTful APIs
Experience with Content Management Systems, Linux is a plus
Product
The Corporate Web Development team operates a suite of websites that relate to marketing and strategic communications, including the global corporate website, verisign.com, and the company blog. These properties are deployed to production as static sites, but the team is working to build out CMS capability in pre-production to enable stakeholders to update site content more autonomously.
The key challenges we face with building the system are in automation of testing and deployment and ensuring high quality output that remains compatible across browsers and devices.
Team
The team possesses extensive technical ownership over the product. The work style of the team is closer to an internal startup where all the team members are involved in the majority of product development phases and are flexible moving between focus areas.
The team follows Agile Development methodology relying on daily Scrums with tickets prioritized in Jira. Our code is located on internal GitHub; we follow Git Flow with pull request code reviews. For continuous delivery, we use Jenkins with pipelines and our product deployments are automated with Ansible and Terraform. The product can be rolled out from zero to the operating state in a single button click. We do builds for each codebase change as well as nightly builds. We have automated testing with substantial coverage.
It is clearly beneficial if the candidate has experience working with some of the mentioned tools.
This position is based in our Reston, VA office and offers a hybrid work environment
The pay range is $108,900 - $147,300.
The anticipated annual base salary range for this position is noted above, however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience. Verisign offers a discretionary bonus which is based on individual and company performance, and certain roles may be eligible for discretionary stock awards.
