Work Shift
1 - First ShiftAre you passionate about Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, and Operations? We are looking for leaders who want to deepen their understanding of manufacturing. In this role you will rotate through 3, eight-month assignments to build leadership and functional skills within our business. Our ideal candidate has a continuous improvement mindset, a curiosity about manufacturing, and a passion for solving real world problems, through innovation, collaboration, and hands-on learning.
Participants in the Operations Development Program (ODP) will complete a two-year rotational training experience that accelerates development of early career talent and produces a pipeline of Operations leaders. After successful completion of ODP, participants will transition into a position that aligns their skill sets with the needs of the business.
What You'll Do
1. Execute 3, eight-month rotations to build leadership and functional skills through experiential and formal learning. Program rotations include three of the following:
Production Area Manager
Engineering (Manufacturing, Quality, or Advanced Manufacturing)

- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business Management, or Engineering.

Job Summary
Are you detail-oriented and driven to craft a high-quality product? As a Painter I at Vermeer, you'll help transform raw iron into Vermeer yellow iron by applying primer, pre-finish, and finish coats to machines and manufactured parts. What You'll Do
1. Apply primer and topcoat to treated metal parts, adjusting paints to meet Vermeer's quality standards.
2. Prepare surfaces for painting by cleaning, degreasing, mechanical scuffing, and precise masking/plugging per print and Standard Operating Procedure (SOP).
3. Operate and maintain paint-line equipment, including booths, spray guns, pumps, regulators, and high-pressure washers; perform routine preventive maintenance (PM/Total Preventative Maintenance [TPM]) and safe changeovers.
4. Mix and adjust coatings to specification by following ratios by weight/volume, checking viscosity (e.g., Zahn cup), accounting for temperature/humidity, and managing pot life.
5. Measure and document coating quality using Wet Film Thickness (WFT) and Dry Film Thickness (DFT) gauges (magnetic/eddy current), apply visual standards, repair defects, and complete required quality records as applicable.
6. Inspect parts throughout the painting process, repair paint defects, and communicate issues quickly to support cross-shift and cell partners.
7. Perform tasks that require frequent standing, reaching, bending, squatting, and lifting; work in confined spaces as needed while following all Environmental Health and Safety (EHS), Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) procedures.

Job Summary
Work Shift
1 - First ShiftThe Design Engineer Intern helps design, document, build and test new solutions for assigned industry using design tools. This role supports design in production, sales, service, troubleshooting and updating. This position also helps analyze and provide realistic recommendations on structural components to ensure that design meets the design goals and customer needs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
1. Exhibit the Vermeer characteristics of caring culture, demonstrating agility, customer focused and stewardship while modeling the associated behaviors.
2. Help design and detail purchased items, machining, weld and assembly prints using SolidWorks software for manufacturability, cost effectiveness and safety.
3. Assist Engineering Technicians with all aspects of building and testing prototypes.
4. Analyze production issues and assist with solutions.
5. Calculate unknown loading and directions where required from data and assumptions.
6. Develop bill of materials (BOM).
7. Test design changes made by technicians.
Education and/or Experience
- High School diploma required.
- Current student pursing a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Agriculture or Electrical Engineering.
- Previous internship is a plus.
Other Skills and Abilities
- Ability to identify the root cause of defective parts of product design solutions, including manufactured and purchased component sizing.
- Knowledge in the FEA, hydraulics, electronics, statistics and strength of materials, durability and serviceability of products.
- Ability to understand material strengths, fatigue strength, and manufacturability to ensure that the right configuration and materials are developed.
- Ability to produce accurate, professional and error-free documents in a timely manner.
- Demonstration of good oral and written communication skills.
Work Location
ONSITE: A team member's day-to-day work is best done on a Vermeer campus. If work content can be occasionally completed at an offsite location, discuss potential arrangements with your manager.
