In this role you will set up and operate various machining equipment, including but not limited to: steel saws, buffers, threaders and various types of drilling machines. Read blueprints to determine dimensions, tolerances, tooling instructions, feed rates and cutting speeds. 2. Operate equipment and adjust machine settings to provide the best quality part with the greatest efficiency. 3. Utilize measuring tools to verify product quality. 4. Select, load and unload raw material and completed product, at times with overhead hoist. 5. Perform and document total productive maintenance checklists. 6. Support 5S/workplace organization goals of the department and offer suggestions and make improvements that assist in achieving the department's performance board metrics. As a Quality Engineer Intern at Vermeer, you'll support real-world projects that enhance production processes and drive operational excellence. Support critical Quality Management System (QMS) processes and participate in quality improvement projects and teams. What We're Looking For - High School diploma required. Current student pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Engineering. - Awareness of quality tools and techniques, such as Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), Core Tools, SPC methods, and CPK, with exposure to statistical software such as Minitab (or similar). - Awareness of lean manufacturing principles and using Lean Sigma/Six Sigma methodology to improve quality, including Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, Control (DMAIC). - Experience with troubleshooting and root cause analysis; exposure to Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) and Eight Disciplines (8D) problem solving preferred. - Ability to work in a team environment, operate assembly and measurement tools and devices, and read prints and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T). You are going to be a part of our company's Innovations group which is responsible for the development of new products and processes. You will be challenged constantly here to provide NEW high-quality beers and flavored malt beverages (FMB's) in a SAFE and efficient manner to support the future growth of our company. There are many things that you will be doing here throughout your Co-Op but the one thing I can promise is that you will not be bored. Among day-to-day production, you will be asked to manage an improvement project, present a ‘Beer Science' topic to your peers, own an area of the brewery to ensure it has all the tools we need, and present about everything you learned to our director and other Innovation leaders. This is not like many engineering co-ops you may encounter out there. It is very hands on and manual. You will be moving hoses, opening valves, cleaning tanks, transferring products, centrifuging beer, etc. To complete these tasks, you will be working with the equipment you are currently learning about in school. There are flow meters, plate and frame coolers, glycol jacketed tanks, yeast separators, steam heaters, and many lab instruments that you will be responsible for calibrating and operating. The Doe Run Company's Southeast Missouri Mining & Milling Division (SEMO), located near Viburnum, MO (in the heart of the Mark Twain National Forest), is responsible for locating and extracting lead ore. The work takes place far below Earth's surface, some 1,000 feet beneath the forested hills of southern Missouri. This area, rich in mineral deposits, is known as the Viburnum Trend. Named for the nearby town of Viburnum, mining and milling has taken place here for more than 40 years. While best known for having high-purity lead ore, SEMO also extracts zinc and copper minerals from underground mines. We are currently seeking Summer 2026 Interns to assist the EHS department with various related activities and projects. Deliver a fresh perspective and valuable business solutions while enhancing the student's application of education and providing occupational experience within their degree program. The work location may change as needed to support production and business needs within the Viburnum Trend in Southeast Missouri. Job Responsibilities: Assist with project management tasks, data analysis, and research to support project deliverables. Collaborate with team members to understand assigned departments and/or operations. Field work to support and understand business and overall operational processes. Complete tasks in a safe and environmentally compliant manner by following EHS (environmental, health, and safety) policies, procedures, and best practices; support and assist peers in working in a safe, compliant manner; report unsafe acts or conditions, incidents, and deviations; and provide feedback to support continuous improvement in EHS performance. Other duties as assigned. Education & Experience: Currently enrolled in an accredited college pursuing a bachelor's degree relevant to the EHS department.
