Verona company history timeline

1815

Following the Congress of Vienna in 1815, Verona permanently passed into Austrian hands, becoming the most important city of the Hapsburg strategy against Piedmont’s attacks.

1822

The last congress of the Quadruple Alliance (Russia, Prussia, Austria, Britain) was held at Verona in 1822.

1866

After numerous battles Verona and the whole Veneto were finally able to free themselves from foreign domination and joined the Kingdom of Italy in 1866.

A long period of struggle for freedom began before the Italians finally defeated the Habsburg Empire in 1866 and the Kingdom of Italy was founded.

1932

The Arco dei Gavi (reconstructed in 1932) was erected in the 1st century bce.

1956

In 1956 the Mori-Torbole tunnel (500 cubic metre of discharge from the Adige river to the Garda lake in case of flood danger) was built to avoid disasters of that kind.
