VersaCold company history timeline
VersaCold’s roots can be traced back 70 years to the creation of the BC Ice and Cold Storage Company Ltd. founded in Vancouver in 1946.
In 1948, BC Ice began construction on the state-of-the-art structure that would come to be known as the Harbour facility.
Opening June 1, 1949, the newly constructed two-storey building was hailed as “Canada’s most modern refrigeration plant” and as “the last word in cold storage warehouse construction.” Such lofty praise was well deserved for its time.
A series of mergers and acquisitions throughout the ’90s put VersaCold on the continental and, by 2005, global map, as the purchase of P&O Cold Storage added operations in the US, Australia, New Zealand and Argentina.
Sandro Caccaro joined VersaCold in 2015 with over 25 years of experience in transportation and logistics management.
Pascal Truyen is Vice President of Sales and Marketing at VersaCold having joined the organization in 2017.
