As a Flat Laser Operator at Ryerson, you will be responsible for operation of your Flat Laser. We are currently hiring for 1st shift, 2nd shift and weekend shift. Specific shift hours are below. Responsibilities • Set up and operate CNC production equipment such as mills, lathes, press brakes, or laser cutting machines • Load raw materials, install tooling, check machine readiness, and verify job specifications • Read and interpret blueprints, fabrication drawings, bend instructions, and work orders • Make basic machine adjustments or minor program edits to maintain accuracy and part quality • Inspect parts using calipers, micrometers, protractors, and other precision measurement tools • Monitor production runs to ensure consistency and adherence to required tolerances • Troubleshoot minor equipment or tooling issues to keep operations running smoothly • Record production information and maintain organized, accurate job documentation • Perform routine cleaning and preventative maintenance on assigned equipment • Follow all shop safety procedures and maintain a clean, safe work area Qualifications • Experience operating CNC machinery in fabrication or machining (mill, lathe, press brake, or fiber laser experience all considered) • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and verify dimensions • Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of basic machine setup • Familiarity with measurement tools and tolerance requirements • Ability to stand for the shift and lift materials as needed • Dependable, safety-focused, and able to work independently or as part of a team Why Apply? • Stable Monday-Friday schedule • Competitive hourly pay with overtime available with exceptional benefits • Modern equipment and clean production environment • Opportunity to grow your skills across multiple CNC and fabrication processes
