1970: George Valassis founds a small printing sales agency in a suburb of Detroit.
By 1974, circulation of his freestanding inserts had g rown to 25 million households on sales of $5.7 million.
The company's employee roll grew to 193 people in 1979, and additions to staff included a young marketing manager from Procter & Gambl e named Dave Brandon.
