Our Critical Care Technicians are responsible for the care and treatment of unstable/critically ill patients, triaging emergency patients, and monitoring hospitalized pets. They operate under the supervision of various specialists, the staff manager, emergency doctor, and department shift supervisor. Duties & Responsibilities:
Conduct advanced triage of incoming phone calls by assessing clinical urgency, utilizing established protocols, and reviewing relevant medical records to support timely and accurate prioritization of patient care.
Demonstrate proficiency in advanced veterinary medical math, including accurate calculation of drug dosages, fluid rates, constant rate infusions (CRIs), and nutritional requirements. Including and not limited to: Catecholamines, inotropes, anti-coagulants
Acquire, prepare, and ship laboratory specimens along with running automated CBCs, preparation of blood films to perform manual differentials and platelet counts, running various chemistries, coagulation tests, and collect, evaluate, and report urinalysis results.
General nursing care such as: accurately obtaining and assessing patient vitals (temperatures, pulses/heart rate, respiration, blood pressure, pain score, etc.), auscultation of the lungs, prepare and administer nutrition
Perform general venipuncture, peripheral/central/arterial catheter placement and maintenance
Establishing and maintaining airways (ET tube, tracheostomy, etc.).
Oxygen administration techniques: oxygen cages, nasal O2, high-flow nasal oxygen.
Initiating and monitoring mechanical ventilation.
Administering emergency drugs and CRIs under veterinary supervision.
Blood product administration (whole blood, plasma, albumin, etc.).
Fluid therapy including shock dose calculations and continuous monitoring.
Induction and monitoring of anesthesia using advanced parameters
Preparing for and assisting with surgical procedures (e.g. thoracocentesis, chest tube placement, etc.).
Post-op recovery: monitoring pain, vitals, and complications.
Wound management and bandage placement (Robert Jones, splints, wet-to-dry dressings).
Chemotherapy preparation and administration (using PPE and biohazard safety protocols).
Induction, surgical skin preparation, monitor and recovery of surgical patients for minor surgical procedures (ie. Chest tube placement, peritoneal drain, etc.)
Admitting and discharging patients, client communication and education, answering phone calls and scheduling appointments
Cleaning, stocking, general organization, and maintenance of ICU/Isolation equipment and supplies
Qualifications:
Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) or Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) or Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) with at least 2 years of applicable experience
Knowledge of basic veterinary practices, procedures and terminology
Ability to appropriately handle, lift and restrain animals (dogs, cats) and stand for long periods of time.
Demonstrate proper and safe venipuncture, using aseptic technique and the ability to place a peripheral IV catheter, using aseptic technique
Ability to communicate well with other CASE staff members
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Fluent English skills (speaking & reading) are required for the role; fluency in multiple languages a plus!
Ability to multi-task and produce quality work while making effective decisions

- Proper cleaning and disinfection of floors, kennels and surgical equipment.

Not every aspect of the job is glamorous, but every aspect of the job is imperative to the lives and wellbeing of our patients. Assisting in emergencies will be part of the job and can be extremely interesting and rewarding. Communication skills, empathy and sound judgment are vital. The position isn't just about animals. During euthanasias and emergencies we see clients in delicate emotional states who need our care, support and understanding. Supporting and understanding clients during these times is vital while also caring for their loved (furry) family members.
Pay range is $17.00 to 19.00 per hour depending on previous experience.
Job benefits are listed below. Paid time off is accrued so all staff receive two weeks (80 hours) PTO per year. Additional unpaid time off is accommodated on a case-by-case basis. Staff receive a $2500 credit to use toward veterinary care of personal animals (or animals of friends and family) annually. Retirement plan is offered with 3% match. Paid holidays include Memorial and Labor day, Independence day, Thanksgiving, Christmas day and New Year's day. Maternity leave is paid 100% for six weeks with additional six weeks unpaid if desired.
Most staff prefer to work 4 ten hour shifts so that has traditionally been our scheduling strategy, but we are open to other scheduling options. Surgery (10a-1p) and end-of day are the times that require the most coverage. We are open Mondays through Fridays and at this time don't anticipate re-opening weekends, but cannot rule it out in the future.

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Veterinary Surgery Technician to join our team. The Surgery Technician supports three board certified surgeons and the related patient care of surgical cases. The surgery team is a dynamic group within an ER and Specialty Hospital that has a busy caseload of elective and emergency procedures. The surgery technicians participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation. The Surgery Technician assists with various surgeries including soft tissue, orthopedic, laparoscopic, and other advanced surgeries.

Essential Functions:
Under the supervision of the Anesthesiologist and Surgeons, administers medication and manages/monitors patients during surgical procedures-including pre and post op care and anesthesia recovery.
Facilitates patient care of outpatient appointments for surgeons-consults and rechecks.
Performs IV, IM and SubQ injections, IV catheter placements and advanced veterinary technician skills (arterial catheter placement, epidural administration, splint placements).
Performs radiographs.
Assists with all types of surgery, anesthesia, and other procedures as needed.
Participate in surgery team responsibilities that facilitate efficient patient care: setting up and turning over Operating Rooms, preparing exam rooms and instruments, completing daily safety and cleaning duties.
Perform and assist with all aspects of animal restraint for exams and procedures.
Utilizes Ezyvet and Smartflow for documentation of patient care.
Communicates with clients, including financial estimates and collecting payment.
Interfaces with and assists other departments within the hospital as needed.
Other duties as needed.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent.
At least 3 years of Veterinary Technician experience required in a surgical setting or anesthesia focused role
Registered Veterinary Technician, in Colorado, or the ability to become registered upon hire.
Fluent English skills (speaking & reading) are required for the role; fluency in multiple languages a plus!
Preferred Qualifications:
At least 2 years of Veterinary Technician experience in a Specialty Hospital with board certified surgeons
Ability to multitask and anticipate the department's needs.
Excellent communication.
Experience using Medical Record and Whiteboard programs in a veterinary setting.

Nature of Supervision

CityVet is looking for Veterinary Technician Assistants -- with a minimum of 1 year of previous veterinary experience required.
Responsibilities
The Veterinary Technician Assistant (TA) is responsible for maintaining excellent patient care and operational productivity by helping the Veterinary Technician (VT) leverage their time and efforts to meet the needs of our clients and patients. The Veterinary Technician Assistant works to relieve the Veterinary Technician from technical work and administrative detail to achieve greater levels of efficiency in daily practice. Veterinary Technician Assistants help facilitate and streamline the communication from the operating room to the front office staff and most importantly, the client.
Essential qualifications:
High school diploma or GED
At least 18 years of age at the time of hire
At least 1 year of veterinary clinical experience, emergency or urgent care highly desired.
Understanding and ability to properly, and safely, restrain animals
Ability to triage
Lift 50 lbs to waist height
Frequent standing, bending, walking, lifting, carrying, and reaching
Strong organizational skills
Excellent communication & listening skills
Self-motivated & team-oriented
A day in the life:
Assists the Veterinary Technician (VT) in preparing patients for medical, surgical, and dental surgeries by assisting in the administration of anesthesia and properly restraining the patients as needed for examination and treatment.
Effectively partner with the Veterinarian and Veterinary Technician (VT) Teams to administer proper patient triage protocol based on the client and facilities' needs and capabilities in a fast-paced and effective manner.
Aid Veterinary Technicians (VT) with booked appointments, walk-ins, and work-ins, including recording observations/treatment plans in the patient file, and aid in the performance of medical treatments under doctor supervision.
Assist the Client Service Specialist team when needed
