Responsibilities

Schedule: Thursday - Saturday + EO Wednesday 10AM - 10PM
Pay: $22.15 - $32.80 / hour
This pay band is a starting point and is dependent on experience and advancement through our leveling system.
We also offer competitive shift differential pay for eligible hours worked for nights and weekends. Shift differentials are based on a 4-hour minimum.
For example:
Mon - Fri: 6pm to 8am = $4.50/hr. Shift Differential

Our VeterinaryAssistants triage emergency cases as they come in and assist DVM with crafting and going over estimates as needed. In addition, they perform diagnostics (radiographs, labwork, etc), setting patients up in ICU or Inpatient ward, discharging patients, and handle client communication. This position also ensures you are cross-trained throughout specialty departments so you are able to float where needed based on caseload demand.
As a VeterinaryAssistant, you will:
Provide nursing care to patients according to hospital standards of care and core values.
Report patient signalment, problem list and plan during nursing rounds.
Understand classification of commonly-used medications, associated side effects and appropriately monitors therapeutic response.
Administer medications via appropriate routes and duration.
Perform phlebotomy.
Perform physical exam; accurately counts heart, pulse rate, capillary refill time, mucous membranes, temperature, respiratory rate and effort.
Possess a working knowledge of anesthesia/monitoring equipment and assist with patients assigned ASA I or II classifications.
Remain current on R.E.C.O.V.E.R CPR guidelines and demonstrates proficiency in designated role as assigned by attending clinician and/or supervisor.

Job duties include, but are not limited to:
Pet restraint, triage incoming patients, collection and analysis of lab samples, diagnostic imaging, management and nursing care of medical and hospitalized cases with varying degrees of stability, administration of medications, effective communication of treatment plans with clients, surgical preparation and assistance, and anesthetic management.

Fun-loving, two doctor, feline-exclusive veterinary hospital in beautiful Rochester, NY is looking for an energetic, compassionate, motivated technician or technician assistant. Our collegial atmosphere allows for a very rewarding daily experience both in medical cases and with surgical patients. We have digital dental and whole body radiology machines. We also have in-house chemistry, infusion pumps, pulse oximetry and blood pressure monitors, Hot Dog warming pads, in-house culture, computers in each exam room, etc. We practice quality medicine with an emphasis on client communication, geriatric medicine, appropriate dental procedures and pain management. We also work synergistically with the area's comprehensive specialty and emergency practice.
We currently are supported by 3 NYS-certified LVTs and are now looking to hire either another NYS-certified LVT or a non-licensed veterinaryassistant with the right personality and skill set.
Full-time position includes benefits such as competitive salary, vacation, 401k, group health insurance access, no weekend hours and continuing education opportunities. Part-time position would be considered.

Key Responsibilities:
Assistveterinary technicians and veterinarians with various tasks, including animal restraint, medication administration, and sample collection.
Maintain a clean and organized clinic/hospital environment by disinfecting surfaces, sanitizing equipment, and cleaning kennels and cages.
Prepare examination rooms for appointments, ensuring they are well-stocked and organized.
Greet and assist clients, helping them feel welcome and comfortable during their visit.
Escort clients and their pets to exam rooms and obtain preliminary information, such as medical history and reason for the visit.
Provide support during medical procedures, including setting up equipment, holding animals, and monitoring their well-being.
Prepare and label laboratory samples accurately, following proper protocols.
Assist with radiography (X-rays) by positioning animals and operating equipment under the direction of the veterinary team.
Help educate clients on topics such as medication administration, preventive care, and post-operative instructions.
Keep accurate and detailed records of patient care, treatments, and interactions.
Assist with inventory management, restocking supplies, and maintaining an organized storage area.
Participate in maintaining a positive and collaborative team atmosphere.
Who We're Looking For
Experienced Veterinary Technician Assistants with a strong animal care background who have a minimum of 2 years of experience working as a veterinaryassistant/unlicensed veterinary technician
