Responsibilities
How you'll make an impact:
* Maintain and uphold the Core Values and Mission Statement of MPH.
* Assist in all daily duties for clinic care.
* Participate in any special cleaning duties.
* Provide client care by scheduling appointments, taking payments, and check-ins.
* Maintain excellent client communication.
* Record all pertinent medical, client and case related information in the patient record accurately with appropriate grammar, terms, and accurate information.
* Review medical records, estimates or discharge instructions with clients.Answer the phones in a courteous and informative way.
* Provide patient care under the direction of a DVM.
* Perform clinic upkeep as directed.
* Perform equipment maintenance as directed.

Qualifications
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
* Must be proficient in a variety of skills ranging from but not limited to laboratory, pharmacy, radiology, surgery, dental and nursing skills.
* Ability to demonstrate patience and composure in stressful situations, and ability to handle a fast pacedenvironment.
* Ability to stay calm and efficient during a medical crisis.
* The employee must have mental processes for reasoning, remembering, mathematics, and language ability (reading, writing, and speaking the English language) to perform the dutiesproficiently.
* The employee must also be confident around pets.
Required Education and Experience:
* High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Physical Requirements:
* The employee must have the ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and climb as well as manipulate (lift, carry, move) up to 50 pounds.
* The employee must be able to endure sitting, standing, and walking on hard floor surfaces for extended periods of time.
* The employee must be Able to work in noisy work conditions with sounds from animals and equipment that can be moderately high.
* The employee will be routinely exposed to a variety of pets that may bite or scratch, and on occasion, exposed to anesthesia, radiation, biological hazards, and medication/controlled substances.
* The employee must possess sufficient ambulatory skills to perform duties while in hospital environment.The employee must have specific vision abilities which include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
* The employee must have good hand-eye coordination, arm-hand-finger dexterity with the ability to grasp and visual acuity to use a keyboard and operate equipment.

What you will do:
You will work directly with the Doctors, and the rest of our team to triage and treat pet emergencies. You will provide care to not only the pet, but the owner providing them with education and support during their pet's emergency. You will work to reach the high standards of the American Animal Hospital Association that provide the veterinary profession with standards. You will be encouraged to work to the full potential of your accreditation. Our Doctors examine, diagnose, prescribe and perform surgery. Our technicians and assistants do everything else including blood draws, cath placements, positioning and taking of radiographs (digital), anesthetic monitoring, and performing all treatments needed. You will work with other assistants and LVT's who have much more and much less experience than you do, which will allow you to learn and grow. You will be challenged every day!

We are currently seeking Full Time and Part Time Licensed Veterinary Technicians for our fast paced emergency environment.
Schedule - Being a 24 hour hospital, we are busy during the evening hours when other clinics are closed. Our flexible schedule can vary from 3p-11p, 4p-MN, 5p-1am. There are opportunities for overnights once training is completed. We also have 10 and 12 hour options after initial training. One weekend day per week is required as well as 1 summer holiday and 2 winter holidays per year. We are very flexible to encourage and allow a healthy work/life harmony.

Job Responsibilities:
● #1: Provide compassionate care to all patients
● Administer drugs to patients according to the veterinarians' orders. Routes of administration:
● -Intravenous-Intramuscular-Subcutaneous-Oral-Aural-Ophthalmic
Calculate drug dosages and fluid drip rates
Know common drugs and their protocols and be able to explain them to clients Perform physical assessments and document observations
Collect and perform laboratory procedures:
● Ear cytology
● Shin scraping/cytology
● Fecal flotation/smear
● Urine sediment analysis
● Operate and maintain laboratory equipment (microscope, bloodwork machines, etc.) ● Tag and process cremations
● Perform venipuncture and catheter placement
● Prep wounds and apply bandages
● Monitor vital signs
● Understand the use and care of IV pumps
● Record all controlled drug use
● Properly place endotracheal tubes
● Administer and monitor anesthesia
● Assist in diagnostic, medical and surgical procedures as requested by a veterinarian ● Admit patients following hospital policy and doctor's written orders
● Discharge patients based on the veterinarian's orders, ensuring that patients are well groomed and in medically appropriate state
● Greet clients and pets by name
● Note in medical records the details discussed during client conversations including the date, time, key points of the discussion and any action required
● Answer clients' questions about veterinary services and products and provide knowledgeable advice about wellness, prevention and disease
● Fill prescriptions and provide routine administration instructions to clients ● Always refer to the veterinarian as doctor; never use the doctor's first name in the presence of clients
● Prepare consent forms, estimates/treatment plans and be able to discuss the hospital's financial policies with clients
● Prepare health certificates and/or proof of vaccination as requested by the client ● Advise clients on proper nutrition, flea/tick/heartworm preventatives, pre-anesthetic testing, pain management, shampoos, home dental products and other retail items ● Maintain clean, neat treatment and surgical areas including cleaning up at pets' accidents
● Explain invoices to show value for the care provided
● Know fees for routine services
● Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) required for each job duty and keep PPE in good working order. PPE includes goggles or face shields, aprons, gloves and/or other equipment assigned.
● Understand infectious diseases and how to control and prevent their spread ● Maintain positive and cooperative relationships with other employees ● Attend monthly mandatory staff meetings
● Attend mandatory continuing education seminars
Skills Needed:

Educational Requirements:
● High school diploma or equivalent, some college preferred
● Minimum age requirement of 18 years old

Physical Obligations:
● Able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
● Endure standing and walking on hard floor surfaces for extended periods of time ● Able to work in noisy work conditions with sounds from animals and equipment ● Take safety precautions for exposure to toxins, drugs, anesthesia and radiation
