    The primary role of the Kennel Technician at the Clovis Animal Shelter is to ensure the cleanliness and sanitary conditions of animal enclosures and shelter facilities. This employee reports to the Animal Control Supervisor. This is a civilian position responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of the Clovis Animal Shelter premises and facilities. The position entails manual work involving custodial duties with a focus on cleaning and maintaining animal enclosures and facilities. Administrative tasks such as inspections and inventory management are also part of the responsibilities. Normal work hours are 40 hours per week, with occasional overtime, schedule adjustments, or weekend duty as required. * Essential duties and Responsibilities (This list is not exhaustive and may be supplemented as necessary): * Ability to work with animals (primarily dogs and cats) of all types with different demeanors in a calm and soothing manner * Clean animal enclosures, including cages, kennels, and other holding areas, ensuring sanitary conditions and comfort for animals. * Lift heavy objects such as bags of animal feed, equipment, etc. * Sweep, mop, and disinfect floors using appropriate tools and cleaning agents. * Dust and sanitize furniture and fixtures. * Wash walls, windows, and other surfaces. * Operate and maintain mechanical heating and air conditioning equipment, reporting malfunctions or issues to supervisor. * Assist with minor repairs and maintenance tasks as needed. * Clean and sanitize restrooms, replenishing supplies as necessary. * Perform exterior maintenance tasks, including landscaping, trash collection, and snow removal. * Take inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment, ensuring adequate stock levels. Minimum Qualifications: * Experience in the use and care of custodial equipment and cleaning methods is preferred. * Experience working with animals in a professional setting * Must be in good physical condition, as the job requires some heavy lifting. * Must be able to communicate in an acceptable manner with staff and public. Licenses and Certificates: New Mexico Class "D" driver's license or equivalent. Physical Requirements Moderately heavy work involving frequent standing, walking, balancing, bending, stooping, crouching, kneeling, and squatting; pushing, pulling, and lifting items weighing up to 100 pounds. Working Conditions Regular attendance is an essential function of this job to ensure continuity of services. The position is subject to drug testing in accordance with applicable State and Federal regulations and City of Clovis policies.     Job Description Company Name: Santa Fe Animal Shelter Clare Eddy Thaw Animal Hospital located on the Santa Fe Animal Shelter campus is accepting resumes for an experienced full time Veterinary Assistant/ Technician. Our hospital operates as a full-service General Practice but is a non-profit where all proceeds benefit the shelter. We are seeking team members that have veterinary hospital and animal handling experience. Must be willing to learn and work as a progressive team. We are seeking candidates that are self-motivated, who will administer vaccinations and medication, draw blood, assist the doctors with running diagnostics, assist in surgery, iv catheter placement etc. Must love working with the public, have compassion for animals in need, and possess a strong work ethic. Candidates must be able to lift at least 50 pounds and stand most of the shift. Our team works 4 -10 hour days. Bilingual (Spanish) speakers a plus. Compensation commensurate with experience. RVT and CVT preferred but not required. Serious applicants only.
