We are seeking a Full-Time Kennel Assistant to help provide outstanding patient care and client service in a fast-paced, multi-doctor animal hospital.
The Kennel Assistant is responsible for maintaining back of hospital duties. These tasks include: caring for boarding animals, maintaining appropriate feeding schedules/providing prescribed medication to pets, maintaining the kennel area (cleaning and mopping), bathing animals and upholding the highest level of care for all pets. Additional duties may include general cleaning of the hospital and communicating directly with clients. CSR duties as needed per kennel volume.

* Successfully passing the Veterinary Technician National Exam (VTNE) to become certified as a Veterinary Technician may be substituted for six months of experience.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
* The probation period for this class is six (6) months.
* This classification performs safety-sensitive functions and is subject to pre-employment, random and other drug/alcohol testing programs as set forth in the City of Jacksonville's Drug Free Workplace Policy (0401).
* ACPS is part of the City of Jacksonville's emergency response operations. We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Veterinary Emergency Technician/Assistant to join our dedicated team. Key Responsibilities:
Patient Care: As an Emergency Veterinary Technician, you will play a critical role in providing immediate and ongoing care to emergency and critically ill patients. You will work alongside emergency veterinarians in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment to stabilize and treat patients. The ideal candidate will have strong technical skills, a calm and compassionate demeanor, and the ability to handle emergency situations with confidence.
Diagnostic Support: Collect diagnostic samples (blood, urine, etc.) for testing and assist with diagnostic imaging procedures (X-rays, ultrasounds, etc.).
Anesthesia: Administer anesthesia and monitor patients during emergency surgeries and procedures.
Client Communication and Education: Provide updates and support to pet owners, explaining treatment plans and helping them understand the condition of their pets. Communicate with pet owners about treatments, medication administration, side effects, and post-treatment care instructions.
Critical Care Support: Provide ongoing care to hospitalized patients, including IV fluid therapy, medication administration, blood transfusions, and pain management.
Laboratory Work: Prepare and process laboratory samples, run diagnostics, and assist in interpreting results.
Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and detailed medical records for patients, including treatment plans, progress notes, and any adverse reactions.
Inventory Management: Ensure that emergency supplies are stocked and properly maintained.
Team Collaboration: Work closely with veterinarians, veterinary technicians, and support staff to ensure a high standard of care and patient comfort.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
High school diploma or equivalent (required).
3 years of experience as a veterinary technician or assistantVeterinary Technician Certification (LVT, RVT, or CVT) preferred.
Experience in veterinary Emergency Medicine or a similar specialty is highly desirable but not required.
Skills & Experience:
Strong knowledge of veterinary medical terminology, animal behavior, and procedures.
Proficiency with medical equipment, including IV pumps, infusion pumps, and diagnostic tools.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to provide compassionate and clear explanations to clients.
Ability to handle sensitive situations with empathy and professionalism.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift and carry animals and equipment up to 50 pounds.
Ability to stand for long periods and perform physical tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and detailed patient records using a paperless medical record system, ensuring all procedures, vaccinations, and notes are documented for proper billing.
Pharmacy Assistance: Assist with dispensing medications as directed by the veterinarian, prepare prescription labels, and appropriately package medication.
Safety & Technical Skills: Follow DEA, OSHA, and hospital safety guidelines; administer SQ, IM, and IV injections; perform laboratory tests, radiographs, and electrocardiograms; place IV catheters; perform emergency treatments such as bleeding control and external cardiac massage.
Qualifications:
