Blue Ridge Equine is looking for a Veterinary Assistant with equine experience to Join our fun and friendly team. The experienced assistant would have experience working with horses, have confidence in working independently and be self-motivated, previous veterinary experience is a plus. The hospital assistant will be responsible for caring for patients admitted to the hospital, carrying out basic exams and treatments, prepping for any incoming emergency cases, handling horses for treatments and procedures as well as assisting with diagnostic procedures (radiograph, ultrasound, endoscopy). In addition to patient care, the hospital assistant will be responsible for processing lab work, record keeping, as well as cleaning and restocking both the barn and surgery facilities in preparation for the next case. Candidate must be a capable horseperson, self-motivated, detail-oriented, and a good communicator. Pay range: Starting Pay: $16-$18 (this pay is based on experience) Differential Pay: $2 for weekday shifts from 6pm to 6am Requirements: Must have equine experience Must live within 45 minutes from the clinic at: 4510 Mockernut Lane, Earlysville Must be flexible, willing and able to work rotation and on-call shifts (Nights, Weekends, Holidays) 1+ years of prior veterinary experience preferred Knowledge of industry tools and equipment Experience with proper horse handling and restraint Self-motivating and willing to contribute immediately Team player willing to learn and further their knowledge Compassionate and caring toward our clients and their pets Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. Understand and communicate Vetco medical recommendation, booster schedule and products. - Effectively communicate with store management to build an atmosphere of cooperation and business success. - At conclusion of clinic, present report card and site report to MOD. Obtain the gross sales receipt of clinic sales (clinic transaction model) or SKU movement report (customer transaction model) from the MOD. - Prior to departure, confirm the clinic area is clean and no trash, sharps, clinic equipment or supplies have been left on the floor or shelves. - Notify store well in advance if clinic team is running late. - End of clinic and end of day reconciliation of all equipment and supplies. - Escalate any clinic issues to Market Manager, Store Manager, and/or Vetco Customer Service for further resolution via Incident reporting process. - Accountable for accurate completion of all paperwork - Ensure all paperwork and checklists are completed. - Ensure rig supplies and product bins are restocked at the end of day. - Participate in company and sponsor facilitated training related to products, services, policies and procedures. - Complete the Clinic Lead reports for each shift Nature of Supervision Position directly reports to the Market Manager. Supervisory Responsibility: While field associates report directly to the Market Manager, this position provides work direction and functional leadership to rig employees while in clinic or transit. Previous Experience: - Must be able to perform all clinic job roles. - Possess outstanding customer service skills, an aptitude for basic sales techniques and an interest in animals, as well as a professional appearance and demeanor. - Hold leadership qualities and/or experience. - Be able to operate company vehicles. - Ability to effectively communicate, provide functional direction and leadership to team and resolve difficult situations independently. - As direct contact with animals is required, must be comfortable handling and restraining animals within company policy. - Existing partners applying must be in good standing.
