About You:
You're a reliable, experienced Veterinary Assistant who works well under pressure, communicates effectively, and values teamwork. You want to be part of a collaborative, drama-free and fun team that delivers 5-star care to both patients and clients!
Position Responsibilities:
Assist veterinarians during exams, treatments and procedures.
Perform technical tasks; IVC placement, medication administration, radiology, anesthesia monitoring, patient monitoring, etc.
Monitor anesthesia using ECG, SpO2, EtCO2, and NIBP.
Provide pre- and post-surgical care and assist with surgical prep and recovery for patients.
Handle and process laboratory samples for submission to local and offsite labs.
Accurately obtain and relay detailed patient histories.
Document records, treatment and diagnostics into HMS system (ezy Vet).
Communicate effectively with clients on treatment plans, estimates, and discharge instructions including callbacks and updates.
Educate and communicate with clients regarding their pet's condition, treatment plans, review of estimates, and follow-up care.
Support hospital cleanliness, safety protocols and inventory management.
Additional duties as requested by hospital leadership.
Requirements:
Previous veterinary experience required.
Fluent English skills (speaking & reading); multilingual is a plus.

As a Kennel Technician at Kim's K-9 in Grand Rapids, MI, you will spend your day supervising a lively group of off-leash dogs of various sizes on the play floor. Eligible to train for one-on-one boarding dog care and solo enrichment activities after 90-day probation passed!
Your responsibilities will include teaching dogs manners, engaging them in enrichment activities, managing their needs, feeding them, and maintaining cleanliness throughout the day.
You will receive training to administer food and medication to dogs staying overnight for boarding.
Bathing dogs before they go home will also be part of your duties as a Kennel Technician.
You will undergo extensive education on dog body language and non-verbal communication to understand group dynamics and prevent conflicts effectively. We also do twice-annual medical/first aid training for all of our staff to keep everybody confident in their care!

POSITION OVERVIEW: As a Veterinary Technician
Support the veterinary team by assisting with patient handling, hospital cleanliness, and basic care tasks in a fast-paced emergency environment.
Ensure the hospital is clean, stocked, and prepared for patient care through regular cleaning, restocking, and sanitation duties.
Handle pets with care to create a positive experience for clients and their animals.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist veterinary technicians and veterinarians with basic patient handling and restraint
Clean and sanitize exam rooms, kennels, and treatment areas according to hospital protocols
Maintain cleanliness of hospital equipment, instruments, and laundry
Feed, walk, and provide general care for hospitalized patients as directed
Monitor patient comfort and report changes in condition to the medical team
Restock supplies in exam rooms, treatment areas, and inventory stations
Perform basic administrative tasks such as laundry, trash removal, and restocking
Adhere to all safety and infection control protocols
Participate in team meetings, training sessions, and hospital improvement initiatives
Provide a positive, empathetic experience for clients and patients at all times
QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma or equivalent required
Previous experience as a veterinary assistant or in animal care (kennel, shelter, pet boarding, or similar) preferred but not required
Ability to safely and compassionately handle animals of various temperaments and sizes
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Must be dependable, detail-oriented, and able to follow written and verbal instructions
Comfortable working in a fast-paced, emergency environment with exposure to distressed animals and emotional situations
Availability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and overnights as needed
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and remain on feet for extended periods

About You:
You're a detail-oriented technician with solid technical skills, especially in anesthesia and surgical support, and ideally with experience in ophthalmology. Assist the Ophthalmologist during appointments and surgical procedures
Perform venipuncture, IV catheter placement, medication administration
Provide surgical prep, anesthesia monitoring, and post-op care
Support patient restraint, comfort, and general nursing care
Educate clients on patient conditions and post-operative instructions
Conduct specialized ophthalmic diagnostics (e.g., Schirmer tear tests, tonometry, ocular ultrasound, ERG), if trained
Maintain sterile field and perform sterile scrubs
Accurately maintain patient records and documentation
Participate in staff training and ongoing professional development
Support hospital cleanliness, inventory, and safety protocols
