* Answer medical questions over the phone
* See patients right away as part of the VEG Triage and VEG Spikes, our unique, customer-centered way of doing things-like ensuring people see a doctor right away and allowing families to stay with their pets
* Gather the signalment, presenting complaint, vitals, and physical exam
* Conduct physical examinations of animals, along with other required investigatory measures such as ultrasounds, X-rays, bloodwork, and biopsies
* Complete a diagnosis of each pet's condition to create a diagnostic and therapeutic plan
* Communicate diagnosis and treatment options directly with customers
* Prepare estimates and present them to customers
* Create and review medical records to ensure accuracy

* Educate customers on after care and preventative measures where appropriate
WHAT YOU NEED
* A DVM or equivalent degree
* Live and breathe emergency medicine, including emergency surgery (the soft tissue kind!) and endoscopy

Administrative:
General knowledge of zoo animal biology and wildlife husbandry.
Helps maintain and implement preventive medicine schedules.
Maintains timely and accurate medical records in Species 360/ZIMS and other record systems.
Processes and ships samples to reference laboratories.
Maintain an organized, clean and tidy hospital including disinfecting and sterilizing as necessary.

Animal Health:

Maintains hospital and hospital equipment in clean and working repair.

Qualifications
Registered Veterinary Technician in the state of California, license must be active and in good standing.
3+ years of veterinary experience in a clinical setting

Understand the importance of excellent communication and organizational skills
Obtain accurate and thorough medical histories
Perform basic exam procedures
Skilled in venipuncture and Intravenous (IV) catheter placement (cephalic, saphenous, and jugular)
Able to perform digital radiology (X-ray) including positioning
Perform complete dental procedures, including digital x-rays, scaling, polishing, charting, and extractions (simple, complex, gingival flaps)
Comfortable with general anesthesia and surgical assisting (induction, intubation, monitoring, aseptic technique)
Laboratory skills including microscope (ear and fecal cytology); in-house laboratory equipment
Ability to utilize ultrasound to obtain diagnostic images and urine samples preferred
Excellent client communication/education
Ability to perform Technician appointments independently, including accurate medical record documentation
