What You'll Be Working On
Diagnose, treat, and manage a variety of small animal emergency and urgent care cases.

Your patients are well taken care of after your shift by our highly trained Hospitalists.
The ability to perform your own surgeries! No transferring to other departments or teams.
Collaborating on cases with a team of experienced and engaged Veterinarians and staff.
Requirements:
Qualications
Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from an accredited program is required.
Being licensed or able to become licensed in the state of Connecticut is required.

Ability to work with other staff members.
Strong surgical skills is a plus.
Prior experience working in general practice, urgent care, or emergency.
Highly motivated, with a demonstrated passion for continuous education.

General Description of Position:
Veterinary Technician Assistants are the vital force in any veterinary hospital. They do many daily tasks, such as feeding, walking, and assisting the nurses with diagnostics and treatments for all the patients who are seen here at Central Hospital for Veterinary Medicine. Other routine duties may include general up keep of the hospital.
Essential Functions:

Maintain cleanliness of the hospital including:
Stocking drawers and cabinets in assigned work areas
Cleaning and folding of laundry
Clean and disinfect cages, kennels, and walking areas (including vacuuming and mopping floors)
Taking out trash and recyclables to the appropriate receptacles/dumpsters
Maintain basic husbandry of patients including but not limited to: feeding, walking, and bathing patients.
Safely restrain patients for doctors and technicians during tests and procedures
Assist with obtaining radiographs
Assist with admit and discharge of patients, as well as owner visits
Assist with the aftercare of deceased patients
Performing in-hospital laboratory work
Help provide emergency first aid to sick or injured animals
Assist with the collection and submission of laboratory samples such as blood, urine, stool, or tissue
Attend scheduled departmental and staff meetings as well as required training sessions
Actively participate in continuing education requirements and complete assigned training modules for position. Actively pursue knowledge pertinent to position.
May be required to learn client liaison duties depending upon hired shift.

Position Responsibilities

Basic Qualifications
Minimum of one year of experience working with and/or caring for companion animals and aquatic life is required for this position. Education/Skills

Supervisory Responsibility
* Ensures that the Pet Care Center is opened and / or closed in accordance with established P&Ps as it applies to SFS operations.
* Adhere to and promote established safety procedures for partners, guests, and pets.
Work Environment
The majority of job duties are conducted indoors, although guest carryouts and veterinary visits will require that a partner leave the PCC briefly. Because this position requires bending, kneeling, moving merchandise (up to 50 pounds, as necessary) and standing for long periods of time, there may be risk of injury resulting from not following procedures. Ability and willingness to a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends to meet PCC needs.
