Job DescriptionDescriptionWe are looking for relief veterinarians to help cover shifts at our UrgentVet Hospital. Weekday shifts are 3-11pm and weekend shifts are 10am-8pm. We are open 7 days a week, 365 days a year. No surgery or dentistry required at our hospitals. We are an urgent care clinic with cloud-based electronic medical records and an online queue system.
Key Responsibilities
Veterinarian's role in the Clinic is a position of leadership, trust, and respect and shall conduct themselves accordingly
Promote the human-animal bond through exceptional client experience
Manage multiple patients and varying priorities within allotted timeframes
Skills, Knowledge, and Expertise
DVM/VMD degree from an AVMA accredited college (or successful completion of the ECFVG or PAVE program)
Active license in good standing to practice in the state in which candidate will be working
Overview of UrgentVetUrgentVet bridges the gap between daytime general practice and emergency/overnight care, offering after-hours care for canine and feline patients without the additional expense of emergency clinic fees. Our single-doctor model offers care for common urgent cases, including wound management, ear infections, vomiting/diarrhea, and euthanasia. Each of our paperless clinics is specially designed to deliver efficient care and equipped with cloud-based EMR, digital x-ray, and a full suite of IDEXX in-house lab equipment.

Work Environment
The majority of job duties are conducted indoors, although guest carryouts and veterinary visits will require that a partner leave the PCC briefly. Ability and willingness to a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends to meet PCC needs.

Position Overview
As an Operations Specialist in Animal Care, your role will be to ensure that proper animal care and husbandry is being provided for all companion animals and aquatic life in the Pet Care Center (PCC). You'll be the primary resource regarding animal care and maintenance. This position will support the achievement of the PCC's budgeted sales and shrink goals. You'll ensure our merchandising and inventory strategies are executed across the Pet Care Center with your primary focus in companion animals and aquatic life. You will ensure the efficient and effective operations of the Pet Care Center in close partnership with the sales team to meet the needs of the guest and their pet/s. Responsibilities include; providing patient care by determining animal requirements, conducting examinations and diagnostic procedures, assisting during surgery and operations, provide nursing care, assisting with feeding and caring for patients, maintaining medical supplies and equipment, oversee triage and discharging patients, and maintaining patient medical records.

* Determine animal requirements by conducting examinations and interviews, reviewing care plans and records, completing laboratory tests and studies, and diagnostic imaging.

* Knowledge of the preparation, monitoring, and recovery of pets receiving surgery, as well as basic pet nursing.
* Ability to demonstrate and follow correct procedures in catheter placement, phlebotomy, emergency medicine, and digital radiology.
* Understand and limit the potential exposure to bites, scratches and potential injuries.
* Able to restrain patients according to standard procedures.
* Fill prescriptions, and monitor sedation procedures as directed by the veterinarian
* Ability to work with or around sick animals, potentially hazardous materials, cleaning chemicals, gas anesthetics, zoonotic diseases, and unpleasant odors.
* Display confidence and reassurance when dealing with pets experiencing severe stress, illness or pain. • Communicate and approach job duties in a professional and mature manner.
* Must be flexible with scheduling and able to work some weekends and holidays.
* This is a strenuous job that requires a lot of lifting, cleaning, and constant motion.
