* Disseminate knowledge throughout staff to improve the level of care and communication provided hospital partners, to both the patient and the client.

Nature of Supervision:
In all activities related to the care of individual patients, the Veterinarian will take direct supervision from the Hospital Medical Leader or Area Medical Director. The Veterinarian has discretion related to decisions regarding patient care, however, it is imperative that the Veterinarian uphold the standards set forth in the Petco Veterinary SOPs. The Veterinarian should expect to receive direction and guidance based on electronic medical record review from the Hospital Medical Leader or Area Medical Director regarding patient decisions and should accept such feedback as a means to elevate patient care in the hospital.
All hospital veterinarians should work together in a collegial fashion and are expected to behave in a professional and personable manner.
Planning and Problem Solving:
Problem solving is at the heart of veterinary medicine, and it is expected that any successful candidate will possess excellent problem-solving skills that allow expeditious diagnosis of patient problems.
Impact:
This position will impact the organization by contributing to the growth of a productive practice while focusing on a high-quality standard of care. From an overall hospital organizational standpoint, this position is critical to ensuring that we have a cohesive, well-trained, and motivated team. The desired result is the creation of an optimal environment that ensures employee retention, patient well-being, and customer satisfaction.
Supervisory Responsibility:
This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities, however, as stated above the Veterinarian is a de facto leader in the hospital.
Education/Experience
* Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree or equivalent from an AVMA-accredited veterinary school.
* Active licensure as a veterinarian without contingencies in the state in which the hospital is located or ability to obtain by start date.
* Current DEA license.
* Current Controlled Substance License, if applicable, in state in which the hospital is located or ability to obtain by start date.
* USDA Category I (minimum) Accreditation or completion within two months of hire date.
* Must be comfortable performing anesthesia and routine surgeries including but not limited to: canine and feline spays, neuters, mass removals, and dentals.
* Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Must be compassionate and sympathetic, and be able to maintain a professional attitude and demeanor during emotional and stressful situations.
* Must have telephone and computer skills.

Work Environment:
The majority of job duties are conducted in the Vetco Total Care veterinary full-service hospital. Role and Responsibilities
Under the general direction and supervision of Medical Management, the Veterinary Technician is responsible for the medical care and wellness of all dogs within the program and the maintenance of all medical records.
Essential Functions and Duties
Review medical records and establish a plan of action for each dog upon intake to the program
Administer vaccines under Veterinarian supervision/direction
Collect and run diagnostic samples including but not limited to fecal, blood, urine, and skin. Submit to outside laboratories when needed.
Implant microchips as needed and/or transfer ownership of implanted microchips. Maintain current microchip information.
Create individualized dietary plans for all dogs in the program. Adjust diets with current weight trends. Maintain weight and food intake logs.
Communicate with local veterinary clinics to schedule necessary appointments for all dogs in the program. Transport dogs as needed.
Assist doctors with exams and in surgery
Intubate and administer anesthetic drugs and monitor anesthesia
Obtain vitals, perform simple medical exams, and complete medical notes under Veterinarian supervision/direction
Maintain current and comprehensive medical records, including applicable certificates, on all dogs in the program
Maintain current inventory and logs of medications, clinic supplies, diagnostic supplies, etc.
Obtain health certificates and applicable documents for local and interstate transport, including but not limited to Puerto Rico, Hawaii, and Guam.
Fill and administer intravenous, intramuscular, subcutaneous, topical, and oral drugs/medications, including monthly preventions
Always handle animals humanely and safely
Follow and adhere to all PPE policies
Participate in mock veterinary exams with Warriors during class, educating about appropriate veterinary care and what to expect when returning home with their Service Dog
Ability to work with dogs on unknown or outdated vaccination history
Initiate emergency procedures when indicated
Follow medical care guidelines provided by Veterinarian
Report any abnormalities with dogs to the Medical Management and Veterinarian
Address any medical concerns our Warriors may have regarding their Service Dog, and conduct exams, draft care plans, and conduct follow ups, as needed.

Basic Qualifications
Minimum of one year of experience working with and/or caring for companion animals and aquatic life is required for this position. Qualified applicants will possess a high level of knowledge of companion animals and aquatic life and an aptitude for sales techniques. In addition to having a professional appearance and demeanor, applicants must also demonstrate a keen and genuine interest in animals and their care. Good interpersonal and verbal communication skills are necessary due to the nature of interaction with the public and other partners and leaders within the PCC as well as external veterinary partners.
Certification
Completing and maintaining of the Petco Animal Care Certification program is required in this role.
Education/Skills
In addition to a high school diploma or its equivalent (GED), an applicant must be able to demonstrate proficiency in the areas of mathematics and basic accounting relationships and exhibit exceptional communication skills.
Supervisory Responsibility
* Ensures that the Pet Care Center is opened and / or closed in accordance with established P&Ps as it applies to SFS operations.
* Adhere to and promote established safety procedures for partners, guests, and pets.
Work Environment
The majority of job duties are conducted indoors, although guest carryouts and veterinary visits will require that a partner leave the PCC briefly. Because this position requires bending, kneeling, moving merchandise (up to 50 pounds, as necessary) and standing for long periods of time, there may be risk of injury resulting from not following procedures. Ability and willingness to a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends to meet PCC needs.

Position Overview
As an Operations Specialist in Animal Care, your role will be to ensure that proper animal care and husbandry is being provided for all companion animals and aquatic life in the Pet Care Center (PCC). You'll be the primary resource regarding animal care and maintenance. This position will support the achievement of the PCC's budgeted sales and shrink goals. You'll ensure our merchandising and inventory strategies are executed across the Pet Care Center with your primary focus in companion animals and aquatic life. You will ensure the efficient and effective operations of the Pet Care Center in close partnership with the sales team to meet the needs of the guest and their pet/s. You can excel in this role by exhibiting a passion for the welfare, health, and proper care of animals as well as being a positive partner within the whole Pet Care Center team.
