Summary
Instructors are responsible for the facilitation of student learning and the on-going development of curriculum that meets the needs of students and employers utilizing instructional strategies that promote student success. This instructor is required to be a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) and have experience working with large animals or experience working in a mixed animal practice.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities
The following duties are primarily performed and are essential for this position. Employees are expected to be able to perform each of these job duties satisfactorily and successfully to be qualified for the position. Other duties may be required and assigned.
Learning Facilitation - Foster student learning by developing appropriate instructional strategies to meet diverse student needs and support student engagement. Create learning experiences that integrate instructional technologies to maximize student success and multiple delivery methodologies such as hybrid, in-person, virtual, and on-line course delivery.
Teach courses in veterinary technology, including animal anatomy and physiology, clinical procedures, pharmacology, diagnostic imaging, surgical nursing, and laboratory techniques.
Provide hands-on instruction in animal handling, restraint, and care across species, emphasizing safety, welfare, and ethical treatment.
Demonstrate and supervise clinical skills such as venipuncture, anesthesia monitoring, radiography, and surgical preparation in simulated and live-animal settings.
Integrate veterinary software and diagnostic tools to enhance student learning in areas such as electronic medical records, laboratory data interpretation, and imaging analysis.
Explain complex veterinary medical concepts in accessible, engaging ways for diverse learners, fostering critical thinking and professional communication.
Support students in developing clinical competencies aligned with AVMA accreditation standards and prepare them for credentialing exams and real-world practice.
Assessment - Assess student learning and provide regular feedback to help students be successful. Use data to measure quality outcomes related to student persistence, retention, completion rate, course success, and learning and to design improvement strategies based on the evidence.
Curriculum Development - Develop and continually revise curriculum and instructional materials that are competency-based, current, consistent with employer expectations, and aligned with the college policy on level of required documentation to successfully prepare graduates for their chosen career fields.
Classroom Management - Fulfill assigned schedule, maintain accurate student attendance and grade records, maintain instructional environment with emphasis on safety, housekeeping, and equipment security, and ensure opportunities for student/engagement evaluation. Ensure course materials (including textbooks) are available to students.
Team Participation - Support the college by engaging in division, department and team activities, and meetings including planning, development, and budgeting, and staying current with internal and external changes and initiatives.
Business & Community Engagement - Build and maintain ongoing relationships with community, industry, and clinical partners by participating in advisory committees, external meetings, business visits, and community groups Collaborate with staff to recruit students, participate in recruitment events, and proactively promote the College and our programs.
Student Success & Support - Serve as an advocate for students and engage in activities that help students reach their goals by collaborating with Student Services staff to retain students, close achievement gaps, and help all students be successful. Advise students regarding class schedules, career information, internships, and other program-related information.
Professional Development - Continually improve knowledge and skills in emerging trends, current occupational practices, and teaching through professional development activities, networking with regional industry leaders, and the integration of new techniques and technology. Maintain Faculty Quality Assurance System requirements and licensure required to maintain individual and program accreditation.
Non-Essential Functions and Responsibilities
Participate in departmental and college-wide committees to support curriculum development, student engagement, and institutional initiatives.
Assist with outreach events, such as agricultural fairs, career expos, or community education programs, representing the veterinary technology program.
Support other instructional staff during peak times, such as helping with lab setup, animal care rotations, or exam proctoring.
Perform minor administrative tasks, including inventory checks, ordering supplies, or updating instructional materials.
Contribute to program accreditation efforts by providing input or documentation related to large animal or mixed animal instruction.
Occasionally assist with animal care outside of scheduled instructional hours, especially with projects involving large and small animals.
Collaborate with external partners, such as farms, clinics, or shelters, to coordinate student learning opportunities or clinical site visits.
Perform other duties as assigned that support the mission of the college and the success of the Agricultural Equipment Technology program.
Minimum QualificationsEducation and/or Experience Requirements:
A Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree from an accredited institution is required.
Minimum of five years of professional veterinary experience is required with at least one year occurring within the past five years.
Experience should include clinical practice in large animal or mixed animal medicine.
Teaching or training experience is preferred.
Ability to plan, organize, instruct, and facilitate quality education programs, including development of relevant curriculum.
Upon hire, must maintain Faculty Quality Assurance System requirements and licensure required by other agencies to maintain individual and program accreditation, if applicable.
Licenses, Certifications, and Other Requirements:
Must hold a current, unrestricted Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) license in the state of Wisconsin or be eligible for licensure prior to hire.
Valid Driver's License.
Subject to FVTC's Motor Vehicle Records Check.
Must demonstrate the ability to plan, organize, and deliver high-quality instruction, including the development of relevant, competency-based curriculum.
Demonstrate proficiency in using a Learning Management System (LMS) to support instruction, communication, and student engagement.
Exhibit strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with students, colleagues, industry partners, and community members.
Adapt effectively to changing instructional needs, schedules, and technologies to meet student and program demands.
Embrace continuous improvement by integrating innovative teaching methodologies, tools, and delivery formats.
Monitor student progress toward graduation and serve as a visible advocate for veterinary technology through participation in community events and outreach activities.
Prepare and submit required reports accurately and on time, including student records, program documentation, and compliance materials.

Nature of Supervision:
In all activities related to the care of individual patients, the Veterinarian will take direct supervision from the Hospital Medical Leader or Area Medical Director. The Veterinarian should expect to receive direction and guidance based on electronic medical record review from the Hospital Medical Leader or Area Medical Director regarding patient decisions and should accept such feedback as a means to elevate patient care in the hospital.
All hospital veterinarians should work together in a collegial fashion and are expected to behave in a professional and personable manner.
Planning and Problem Solving:
Problem solving is at the heart of veterinary medicine, and it is expected that any successful candidate will possess excellent problem-solving skills that allow expeditious diagnosis of patient problems.

This position will impact the organization by contributing to the growth of a productive practice while focusing on a high-quality standard of care. * Experience should include clinical practice in large animal or mixed animal medicine.
* Teaching or training experience is preferred.
* Ability to plan, organize, instruct, and facilitate quality education programs, including development of relevant curriculum.
* Upon hire, must maintain Faculty Quality Assurance System requirements and licensure required by other agencies to maintain individual and program accreditation, if applicable.
Licenses, Certifications, and Other Requirements:
* Must hold a current, unrestricted Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) license in the state of Wisconsin or be eligible for licensure prior to hire.
* Valid Driver's License.
* Subject to FVTC's Motor Vehicle Records Check.

The clinic is equipped with digital radiology equipment, an ultrasound machine, and an in-house laboratory to allow quick turnover on most bloodwork, fluid sample analysis, growth/tumor cytology, etc. We are equipped to perform a variety of dental procedures as well as general surgeries and some advanced surgeries.
Position Purpose
We are currently offering up to a $50K Sign-On Package for this opening!
We are so excited to add another veterinarian to our incredible companion animal practice!
We see dogs, cats, and the occasional rabbit or guinea pig. Our team currently consists of 3 full-time veterinarians and multiple technicians and assistants for a solid doctor-to-tech ratio. Our technicians/assistants are confident and skillful, allowing our DVMs to focus on their appointments and other tasks. They draw blood, take X-rays, perform in-house lab testing, monitor surgeries, and more. We work well together and have great relationships in and out of the clinic!
We encourage DVMs of all experience levels to apply! Our practice would be a wonderful place to call home for doctors of all interests. Our current doctors enjoy spinal manipulation, other alternative medicine, dentistry, surgery, dermatology, and more. Our typical surgeries range from spay/neuter and mass removals to cystotomies and orthopedics. We also collaborate with our community Stray Animal Fund Endeavor, a program that takes in strays from the community, houses them, cares for their medical needs, and adopts out unclaimed adoptable pets!

Essential Responsibilities
Examine and treat companion animals to detect and determine the nature of disease or injuries.
Operate diagnostic equipment and collect diagnostic samples as well as interpret results.
