Doctor of Veterinary Medicine
The pay range for this role (part-time) is $37,000 to $107,000 annually. This role is also eligible for variable pay based on production in all states except in Puerto Rico.

Position Overview
The Veterinary Technician supports hospital operations by providing dedicated quality veterinary care and exceptional service to our patients and clients. Responsibilities include providing patient care by determining animal requirements, conducting examinations and diagnostic procedures, assisting during surgery and operations, providing nursing care, assisting with feeding and caring for patients, maintaining medical supplies and equipment, overseeing triage and discharging patients, and maintaining patient medical records.
Key Responsibilities
Determine animal requirements by conducting examinations and interviews, reviewing care plans and records, completing laboratory tests and studies, and diagnostic imaging.
Care for patients by taking vital signs, collecting samples, administering medications, drugs, and vaccines, and bandaging and wrapping wounds.
Support patient examinations and operations by assembling required supplies and instruments, securing and bringing patients to examination rooms, and restraining patients; aids as directed by the veterinarian.
Provide excellent pet care by applying full knowledge of anatomy, physiology, disease processes, pharmacology, specialized equipment usage, and specialized drug administration.
Obtain and verify medications.
Ensure that patients have food and water, clean patients' rooms, cages, and equipment; observe patients for clinical signs of disease.
As directed, fill prescriptions and administer medications, including proper documentation, logging, and security of controlled drugs.
Maintain a safe, secure, healthy, and humane environment by sterilizing and wrapping instruments, sanitizing and disinfecting holding and operating areas, storing sterile supplies, verifying shelf life, following standards and procedures, and in compliance with applicable legal regulations.
Maintain medical records by documenting patients' conditions, reactions, and changes; update the database in an accurate and timely manner.
Communicate with the pet owner about the status of the patient, as directed by the veterinarian.
Maintain equipment by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, maintaining equipment supplies, performing preventive maintenance, and calling for repairs.
Maintain inventory, place orders for needed supplies, verify, and maintain receipts.
Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and reading professional journals.
Release pets to their owners as directed; ensure that every animal released is clean and properly groomed before their release.
Understand and carry out oral and written directions.
Perform other duties as assigned by Manager or practice.
Qualifications (Required)
High school diploma or GED.
One or more years of experience with veterinary appointments, surgeries, and nursing care for hospitalized and critical patients.
Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) as required by State.
Has Emergency and/or Critical Care Veterinary experience.
Knowledge of the preparation, monitoring, and recovery of pets receiving surgery, as well as basic pet nursing.
Ability to demonstrate and follow correct procedures in catheter placement, phlebotomy, emergency medicine, and digital radiology.
Understand and limit the potential exposure to bites, scratches, and potential injuries.
Able to restrain patients according to standard procedures.
Fill prescriptions and monitor sedation procedures as directed by the veterinarian.
Display confidence and reassurance when dealing with pets experiencing severe stress, illness, or pain.
Communicate and approach job duties in a professional and mature manner.
Must be flexible with scheduling.

The person in this position is a direct conduit for all CASE Critical Care needs.

Duties & Responsibilities:
Exemplify a positive, supportive culture within the department as well as within the hospital
Possess well-developed client communication skills and maintain current understanding of hospitalized caseload to assist with owner updates and communications
Foster relationships with referring veterinarians to promote seamless transfer of Critical Care patients to the hospital
General Cleaning/Stocking
Greeting of owners and patients (new transfers, rechecks, in-patients, etc.)
Taking initial history including review of patient progress since discharge or transfer and listing of medications patient is on and refills needed if applicable
Presenting estimates to owner and following proper admitting protocols
Submission of diagnostics with technician guidance
Compile new patients referring medical records and imaging
Under guidance of nurse able to set up basic procedures (IVC, O2 cage, triage monitoring etc.)
Compile medications and discharges prior to patient discharge.
Performing owner call backs of discharged patients and documenting
Able to set up basic procedures without nurse guidance and showing initiative to set up more advanced procedures with direct oversight
Able to review discharges with owner under nurse supervision
Additional duties as assigned
Critical Care Patient Care Responsibilities:
Perform a comprehensive physical examination with guidance from technician
Practice proper and safe patient restraint

Qualifications: Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of basic veterinary practices, procedures, and terminology.
Minimum 1-2 years' veterinary experience required, with technical assistant experience highly desirable.
Experience in Emergency and Critical Care Veterinary Practice preferred

Essential Job Duties:
Prepare exam rooms and assist in appointments with doctors.
Take history from client. Perform physical assessments and record observations legibly in medical record.
Educate clients on preventative healthcare recommendations and provide follow up.
Communicate any patient or client concerns to appropriate personnel.
Perform venipuncture to collect blood samples, perform in house laboratory tests, and prepare all forms to be sent to outside labs, call owner with results as requested by veterinarian.

Assist doctors in medical and diagnostic procedures.
Place IV catheters and begin fluid therapy when required by veterinarian.
Assist in induction and maintenance of general anesthesia with doctor present.
Assist in operating room, recovery, and post op-nursing care as requested by veterinarian.
Perform client callbacks and updates as requested.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Essential Skills and Experience:
Must be certified veterinary technician in the state of Colorado
At least 3 years of clinical veterinary hospital experience required.

Essential Job Duties:
Prepare exam rooms and assist in appointments with doctors.
Take history from client. Perform physical assessments and record observations legibly in medical record.
Educate clients on preventative healthcare recommendations and provide follow up.
Communicate any patient or client concerns to appropriate personnel.
Perform venipuncture to collect blood samples, perform in house laboratory tests, and prepare all forms to be sent to outside labs, call owner with results as requested by veterinarian.
Provide and monitor all nursing care as requested by veterinarian for patients admitted to hospital, including medications (all routes) and monitoring.
Admit and discharge patients to hospital by following all admission and discharge protocols. Educate clients on admit/discharge.
Clean and restock exam rooms, treatment areas, hospital wards and other areas as requested.
Must have proficient knowledge of practice software for dispensing veterinarian approved medication, patient food, printing treatment sheets, discharge instructions, cage card labels, x ray and lab labels, recording communication with client and doctors, and others as directed by veterinarian.
Must have clear understanding and enforcement of OSHA regulations and hospital safety standards.
Perform diagnostic imaging as requested by veterinarian.
Perform tech appointments, such as pedicures, ear cleaning, anal gland expression, routine lab work, subcutaneous fluids, etc. as deemed appropriate by practice
Assist doctors in medical and diagnostic procedures.
Place IV catheters and begin fluid therapy when required by veterinarian.
Assist in induction and maintenance of general anesthesia with doctor present.
Assist in operating room, recovery, and post op-nursing care as requested by veterinarian.
Perform client callbacks and updates as requested.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Essential Skills and Experience:
Must be certified veterinary technician in the state of Colorado
At least 3 years of clinical veterinary hospital experience required.

- Final phase of training involves direct care of patients. Assistants will learn to administer medications both orally and intravenously, adjust IV lines and fluid pumps, and finally assist in surgery with documenting anesthesia parameters and safely recovering anesthesia patients.
Not every aspect of the job is glamorous, but every aspect of the job is imperative to the lives and wellbeing of our patients. Assisting in emergencies will be part of the job and can be extremely interesting and rewarding. Communication skills, empathy and sound judgment are vital. The position isn't just about animals. During euthanasias and emergencies we see clients in delicate emotional states who need our care, support and understanding. Supporting and understanding clients during these times is vital while also caring for their loved (furry) family members.
Pay range is $17.00 to 19.00 per hour depending on previous experience.
Job benefits are listed below. Paid time off is accrued so all staff receive two weeks (80 hours) PTO per year. Additional unpaid time off is accommodated on a case-by-case basis. Staff receive a $2500 credit to use toward veterinary care of personal animals (or animals of friends and family) annually. Retirement plan is offered with 3% match. Paid holidays include Memorial and Labor day, Independence day, Thanksgiving, Christmas day and New Year's day. Maternity leave is paid 100% for six weeks with additional six weeks unpaid if desired.
Most staff prefer to work 4 ten hour shifts so that has traditionally been our scheduling strategy, but we are open to other scheduling options. Surgery (10a-1p) and end-of day are the times that require the most coverage. We are open Mondays through Fridays and at this time don't anticipate re-opening weekends, but cannot rule it out in the future.

Position Overview
As an Operations Specialist in Animal Care, your role will be to ensure that proper animal care and husbandry is being provided for all companion animals and aquatic life in the Pet Care Center (PCC). You'll be the primary resource regarding animal care and maintenance. This position will support the achievement of the PCC's budgeted sales and shrink goals. You'll ensure our merchandising and inventory strategies are executed across the Pet Care Center with your primary focus in companion animals and aquatic life. You will ensure the efficient and effective operations of the Pet Care Center in close partnership with the sales team to meet the needs of the guest and their pet/s. You can excel in this role by exhibiting a passion for the welfare, health, and proper care of animals as well as being a positive partner within the whole Pet Care Center team.
Position Responsibilities

* Have a strong interest in animal welfare and possess a high level of knowledge of our companion animal and aquatic care.
* Ensure that all companion animals and aquatic life in the PCC are receiving appropriate care. This includes ensuring that all companion animal and aquatic life maintenance, companion animal incident reports and hourly animal health checks are completed as required.
* Process register transactions in a way that creates a great experience for each guest.
* Be proficient within our selling model and support guest interactions as needed.
* Ensure merchandise is stocked, priced, and displayed to create a great presentation for our guests.
* Complete and apply training programs to maintain a high level of expertise of their role and educate other PCC partners in animal care and maintenance.
* Promote a positive culture of teamwork, inclusion, and collaboration.
* Adhere to established operational guidelines, policies, and procedures.
* Evaluate guest inquiries and refers to the Leader on Duty as needed.
* Act as primary resource for guests and other PCC partners regarding all animal education and care.

* Analyzes department inventory management data and recommends areas for improvement.
* Perform routine housekeeping tasks as required to maintain the professional image and appearance of the companion animal habitat and aquatic areas, to include sweeping/mopping the floors, dusting, cleaning the tanks, facing the merchandise on the shelves, etc.
* Ensures the proper handling and documentation for all relinquished and adoption animals.
* Verifies animal related maintenance tasks are being completed as outlined on the Maintenance Schedules.
* Participates in the completion of all animal and aquatic life related physical inventory counts.
* Adheres to and promotes established safety and loss prevention procedures.
* Performs additional duties and projects as required or assigned with or without regular supervision.

Basic Qualifications
Minimum of one year of experience working with and/or caring for companion animals and aquatic life is required for this position. Qualified applicants will possess a high level of knowledge of companion animals and aquatic life and an aptitude for sales techniques. In addition to having a professional appearance and demeanor, applicants must also demonstrate a keen and genuine interest in animals and their care. Good interpersonal and verbal communication skills are necessary due to the nature of interaction with the public and other partners and leaders within the PCC as well as external veterinary partners.
Certification
Completing and maintaining of the Petco Animal Care Certification program is required in this role.
Education/Skills
In addition to a high school diploma or its equivalent (GED), an applicant must be able to demonstrate proficiency in the areas of mathematics and basic accounting relationships and exhibit exceptional communication skills.
Supervisory Responsibility
* Ensures that the Pet Care Center is opened and / or closed in accordance with established P&Ps as it applies to SFS operations.
* Adhere to and promote established safety procedures for partners, guests, and pets.
Work Environment
The majority of job duties are conducted indoors, although guest carryouts and veterinary visits will require that a partner leave the PCC briefly. Because this position requires bending, kneeling, moving merchandise (up to 50 pounds, as necessary) and standing for long periods of time, there may be risk of injury resulting from not following procedures. Ability and willingness to a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends to meet PCC needs.
