Position Overview:
We are currently seeking an Experienced Veterinary Surgery Technician to join our surgical team. The ideal candidate is confident, detail-oriented, and thrives in a busy surgical setting. You'll work closely with our veterinarians and support staff to ensure surgical procedures are performed safely and efficiently, while also contributing to the overall patient care experience.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform and assist with pre-operative patient preparation including IV catheter placement, intubation, and surgical site prep
Administer and monitor anesthesia during surgical procedures, adjusting levels as needed for patient safety and comfort
Monitor patient vitals (HR, RR, SpO2, BP, temp) throughout procedures and recovery
Maintain accurate anesthesia and surgical records
Support veterinarians with a variety of soft tissue and routine surgeries
Assist with patient recovery, post-op care, and client education as needed
Perform routine clinical tasks including blood draws, vaccine administration, and medication preparation
Maintain a clean, organized, and sterile surgical environment
Required Qualifications:
Minimum 2 years of experience as a veterinary technician with a strong focus on surgery/anesthesia
Proficient in IV catheter placement, anesthesia induction, maintenance, and recovery
Comfortable monitoring patients under anesthesia and responding to changes
Familiarity with standard vaccines and wellness protocols for dogs and cats
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Qualifications:
Certification as a Veterinary Technician (CVT, LVT, RVT) is strongly preferred

Functional Duties (85%)
* Provide a safe and compassionate environment for animals in our care, our staff, and for our clients by using low-stress handling techniques
* Observe individual animals and the overall population for signs of illness, injury, and/or poor welfare, communicating any issues quickly and effectively
* Provide veterinary medical care within the scope of license, including but not limited to basic examinations and triage, surgical support, venipuncture, catheter placement, intubation, administering and monitoring anesthesia, diagnostic testing, radiographs, CPCR, and humane euthanasia
* Monitor patients post-operatively to ensure safety and comfort and to identify possible post-operative or anesthesia-related complications
* Perform, or be willing to be trained to perform, dental cleanings and radiographs
* Oversee the implementation of preventative, vaccination, and treatment schedules, ensuring all animals are up-to-date
* Handle, administer, and log controlled substances under the direction of a veterinarian and in accordance with laws and protocols
* Maintain active knowledge of all daily procedures and protocols
* Ensure thorough, accurate, and timely data entry to animals' medical records including previous medical history and all exam findings, test results, and treatments
* Support the collection of evidence and documentation of examinations of live and deceased victims of animal cruelty, including clinical forensic exams and gross necropsies

Safely restrain patients for doctors and technicians during tests and procedures

Assist with admit and discharge of patients, as well as owner visits
Assist with the aftercare of deceased patients
Performing in-hospital laboratory work
Help provide emergency first aid to sick or injured animals
Assist with the collection and submission of laboratory samples such as blood, urine, stool, or tissue
Attend scheduled departmental and staff meetings as well as required training sessions
Actively participate in continuing education requirements and complete assigned training modules for position. Actively pursue knowledge pertinent to position.
May be required to learn client liaison duties depending upon hired shift.
