Summary: The Associate Veterinarian is responsible for providing and supporting high-quality medical care to multiple species in collaboration with the Lead Veterinarian, Veterinary Technicians, caregivers and support staff. Advises and consults with the wellness leadership on difficult or complex cases, and participates in healthcare rounds, performs physical examinations, conducts testing, and assesses results as needed. Enforces risk management strategy for animal care, including oversight of controlled substances and orders and management of prescriptions and medications onsite. Partners with the research team to advise on the design and implementation of non-invasive, sanctuary-based research studies at Farm Sanctuary contributing to the body of research on the emotional, social, and cognitive lives of farm animals. Serve as advisor to the Animal Sanctuary Welfare team on enrichment.
