We are seeking a skilled and experienced Lead Veterinary Technician to join our team. Provide leadership to technicians and assistants by setting performance standards, monitoring performance, conducting evaluations with the practice manager, and mediating interpersonal or workflow concerns.
Qualifications & Skills:
Minimum of 2 years of experience in a management or lead role within a veterinary or animal hospital.
Ability to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve professional, administrative, and supervisory issues using sound judgment within established policies and procedures.
Knowledge of patient intake, treatment support, scheduling, medical supply ordering, and laboratory test requests.
Proficient in the proper use, care, and storage of veterinary instruments, equipment, and materials.
Skilled in sterilization techniques and preparation of instruments and materials for procedures.
Familiarity with standardized treatment protocols and “tableside” assistance during exams, surgery, and procedures.

1-3 years of experience in sales, customer-facing roles, or healthcare-related work (internships, entry-level, or relevant academic projects also valued)

* Prepares for and assists veterinarian with routine and emergency medical procedures, including but not limited to wrapping wounds, blood draws, nail trimming, SQ fluids, IV and IM injections, IV catheter placement, fecal tests, microscopic exams, grooming needs and gland expression, etc.
* Performs daily health checks on all animals in the shelter; reviews all sick slips by examining and medicating if required, and moving animal to appropriate isolation area if required.
* Sets up and maintains equipment including respiratory and heart monitors, heating pads, autoclave, and surgical instruments, etc. Checks and maintains O2 machines and anesthetic equipment.
* Processes each animal by examining and documenting in computer database all health information, vaccinations and any minor medical attention provided, veterinarian notes, presence of microchip and all animal description information.
* Performs routine diagnostic tests including but not limited to parvo, heartworm, fecal floatation, skin scrapings, urinalysis, fungal cultures, etc.
* Prepares rabies specimens for health department testing.

Essential Duties
Prepare exam rooms and assist in appointments with doctors.
Take history from client. Perform physical assessments and record observations legibly in medical record.
Educate clients on preventative healthcare recommendations and provide follow up.
Communicate any patient or client concerns to appropriate personnel.
Perform venipuncture to collect blood samples, perform in house laboratory tests, and prepare all forms to be sent to outside labs, call owner with results as requested by veterinarian.
Provide and monitor all nursing care as requested by veterinarian for patients admitted to hospital, including medications (all routes) and monitoring.
Admit and discharge patients to hospital by following all admission and discharge protocols. Educate clients on admit/discharge.
Clean and restock exam rooms, treatment areas, hospital wards and other areas as requested.
Must have proficient knowledge of practice software for dispensing veterinarian approved medication, patient food, printing treatment sheets, discharge instructions, cage card labels, x ray and lab labels, recording communication with client and doctors, and others as directed by veterinarian.
Must have clear understanding and enforcement of OSHA regulations and hospital safety standards.
Perform diagnostic imaging as requested by veterinarian.
Perform tech appointments, such as pedicures, ear cleaning, anal gland expression, routine lab work, subcutaneous fluids, etc. as deemed appropriate by practice
Assist doctors in medical and diagnostic procedures.
Place IV catheters and begin fluid therapy when required by veterinarian.
Assist in induction and maintenance of general anesthesia with doctor present.
Assist in operating room, recovery, and post op-nursing care as requested by veterinarian.
Perform client callbacks and updates as requested.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
High School Diploma (or equivalent).
At least 3 years of clinical veterinary hospital experience required, ideally some veterinary technician education.
Excellent listening and communication skills.

The McConnell Group, ******************** a health science company, is seeking experienced Veterinary Technicians to support to the Research Directorate (RD) of The United States Army Institute of Surgical Research (USAISR).
Estimated Start Date: 1 December 2025 (contingent upon contract award)
USAISR is the Nation's Premier Joint Research Organization in planning and executing registry-based and translational research to provide innovative solutions for burns, trauma, and combat casualty care from the point of injury through rehabilitation. USAISR is a worldwide leader in combat casualty care research, producing medical devices, biomedical research, and novel therapeutics to treat Warfighters.
Contract Veterinary Technicians provide technical support for research protocols, including advanced veterinary technical support such as Intensive Care (IC), surgical support, and also provide general research support functions. The support requires 24 hours - 5 days a week of coverage for Intensive Care Unit (ICU)/Prolonged Field Care (PFC) protocols.
Required Screenings:
Candidate MUST pass a government background investigation (NAC), employment physical and drug/alcohol screening.
Requires, at a minimum, a favorable adjudicated National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI) or an equivalent or higher investigation in accordance with Army Directive 2014-05.
Schedule:
Provide support in 24-hour shift posture with a schedule resembling the U.S. Government.
Monday through Friday schedule - 1st shift - 6:30am/0630hrs - 3:00pm/1500hrs, or until all tasks are complete.
Monday through Friday schedule - 2nd shift - 2:30pm/1430hrs - 11:00pm/2300hrs, or until all tasks are complete.
Monday through Friday schedule - 3rd shift - 10:30pm/2230hrs - 7:00am/0700hrs, or until all tasks are complete.
These schedules are required to meet staff handoff times and ensure continuity of care for all animals on protocols.
Position Responsibilities:
Key Task 1: Assists veterinarian and research personnel with examinations and procedures to include the safe and correct handling and restraint of animals for observation and/or minor procedures.
Administers clinical treatments (topical, oral, subcutaneous, intravenous, intradermal, etc.) to critical and chronic animals.
Recognizes changes in animal clinical condition indicative of complications or an emergency situation and alerts veterinarian and/or research personnel.
Accurately calculates drug dosages.
Performs basic laboratory procedures (e.g. fecal analysis, urinalysis, Packed Cell Volume, etc.).
Key Task 2: Performs basic preoperative preparation of animals to include clipping and scrubbing of surgical sites. Places peripheral intravenous catheter in various anatomical locations, places urinary Foley catheter and provides intubation via endotracheal tube on multiple species. Monitors basic animal vital signs to include taking temperature, pulse, end-tidal carbon dioxide, and respiration rate before surgery, during surgery, and during recovery from surgery.
Maintains accurate documentation and animal medical records in accordance with local, state and federal regulations and SOPs.
Performs anesthesia with gas/inhalant anesthetic (i.e. Isoflurane) and anesthesia recovery and post-operative care for animals.
Places intra-dwelling catheter and administers epidural nerve blocking anesthetic for animals.
Performs euthanasia and necropsy of laboratory animals as required.
Key Task 3: Cleans and sanitizes animal rooms and completes reports regarding facility, animal care equipment, and associated animal facility areas.
Key Task 4: Maintain equipment used for or during the generation, measurement, or assessment of animal models.
Conducts and verifies daily calibration of instrumentation, monitoring equipment, and data collection systems.
Cleans, inspects and maintains equipment utilized during medical procedures.
Maintains records of all inspection, maintenance, testing, calibration, and/or standardizing operations.
Key Task 5: Disposes of animal carcasses following established SOPs.
ICU and Advanced Veterinary Procedure Responsibilities:
Perform ICU and advanced veterinary surgical procedures All forms of anesthesia, euthanasia, assistance in radiographic procedures, Collect blood, conduct health checks, and perform handling/restraint of animals.
Key Task 1: Simultaneously operates human clinical anesthesia equipment, associated advanced monitoring devices, and administer Total Intravenous Anesthesia (TIVA).
Performs both injectable anesthesia (TIVA) and inhalation anesthesia recovery and provides post-operative care for animals.

Required Skills and Qualifications:
