Close care gaps for patients identified by AH's Medicare ACO or commercial insurance partners (follow AZA staffing order protocol).
Promotes patient self-management and empowers patients/families to achieve maximum levels of wellness and independence. Interacts professionally with patient/family and involves patient/family in the formation of plan of care.
Interacts harmoniously and effectively with others, focusing upon the attainment of organizational goals and objectives through a commitment to teamwork.
Performs follow up calls for patients recently discharged from hospitalizations
Strives to meet established standard for productivity
All other duties as assigned
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
High School diploma or equivalent
Professional license/specialized training, one-year certificate from college or technical school
Minimum of 1 year closely related experience preferred.
Completion of formal training program as a medical assistant.
CERTIFICATE AND LICENSES
Current and valid Florida registration or certification as a medical assistant.
Current Basic Life Support certification or agreement to obtain by the completion of the ninety-day introductory period

Job Requirements:

Position Overview
The Veterinary Technician supports hospital operations by providing dedicated quality veterinary care and exceptional service to our patients and clients. Provide excellent pet care by applying full knowledge of anatomy, physiology, disease processes, pharmacology, specialized equipment usage, and specialized drug administration.
Obtain and verify medications.
Ensure that patients have food and water, clean patients' rooms, cages, and equipment; observe patients for clinical signs of disease.
As directed, fill prescriptions and administer medications, including proper documentation, logging, and security of controlled drugs.
Maintain a safe, secure, healthy, and humane environment by sterilizing and wrapping instruments, sanitizing and disinfecting holding and operating areas, storing sterile supplies, verifying shelf life, following standards and procedures, and in compliance with applicable legal regulations.
Maintain medical records by documenting patients' conditions, reactions, and changes; update the database in an accurate and timely manner.
Communicate with the pet owner about the status of the patient, as directed by the veterinarian.
Maintain equipment by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, maintaining equipment supplies, performing preventive maintenance, and calling for repairs.
Maintain inventory, place orders for needed supplies, verify, and maintain receipts.
Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and reading professional journals.
Release pets to their owners as directed; ensure that every animal released is clean and properly groomed before their release.

Qualifications (Required)

This is entry-level technical work in the maintenance of kennel facilities to include: care and feeding of sheltered animals in the medical areas, performance of related clerical and customer support work, providing support to veterinarians and veterinary technician supervisor in routine medical, surgical, and/or necropsy procedures. Work requires knowledge of techniques, methods, and procedures used in the care of animals and maintenance of kennel facilities which involves the use of specialized skills which are acquired through a combination of training and considerable on the job experience. Contacts with others require skills in understanding and influencing people, which are important as it relates to animal care issues.Skills of persuasiveness, assertiveness, and sensitivity to others point of view are often required to influence behavior, change an opinion, or turn a situation around. Work schedule involves some weekend, holidays, and rotating shifts. Work is semi-routine in that tasks are covered by procedures or precedents, but some latitude is permitted to consider the most appropriate method, technique, or procedure to follow. Work is performed in field, kennel, and office environments, where there are some risks and hazards due to the handling of ill and infectious animals, and exposure to offensive odors, chemicals, and other airborne nuisances but the hazards are known, somewhat predictable and mostly controllable. Operates laboratory and standard office equipment such as personal computer, two-way radio, euthanasia equipment, animal restraint equipment and cash register. Operates a motor vehicle. The physical demands consist mainly of standing, walking, transporting animals, and lifting animals and/or objects weighing more than 50 pounds. Work is performed under general supervision where the work assignments are varied and, although subject to standard practices and procedures, the worker is permitted some latitude to set own priorities subject to supervisor's approval.

OPEN REQUIREMENTS:
* One year of education and/or technical experience in biology, animal husbandry, herd management, animal handling/care, veterinary technician, pre-med or pre-veterinary, medical, phlebotomy or laboratory technician experience.
* Successfully passing the Veterinary Technician National Exam (VTNE) to become certified as a Veterinary Technician may be substituted for six months of experience.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
* The probation period for this class is six (6) months.
* This classification performs safety-sensitive functions and is subject to pre-employment, random and other drug/alcohol testing programs as set forth in the City of Jacksonville's Drug Free Workplace Policy (0401).
* ACPS is part of the City of Jacksonville's emergency response operations. When pet friendly emergency shelters are open, all full-time employees are required to report and carry out duties as assigned for the duration of the emergency. Depending on the nature of the emergency, this may require working around the clock for several days on short notice.

Basic Qualifications
Minimum of one year of experience working with and/or caring for companion animals and aquatic life is required for this position. Qualified applicants will possess a high level of knowledge of companion animals and aquatic life and an aptitude for sales techniques. In addition to having a professional appearance and demeanor, applicants must also demonstrate a keen and genuine interest in animals and their care. Good interpersonal and verbal communication skills are necessary due to the nature of interaction with the public and other partners and leaders within the PCC as well as external veterinary partners.
Certification
Completing and maintaining of the Petco Animal Care Certification program is required in this role.
Education/Skills
In addition to a high school diploma or its equivalent (GED), an applicant must be able to demonstrate proficiency in the areas of mathematics and basic accounting relationships and exhibit exceptional communication skills.
Supervisory Responsibility
* Ensures that the Pet Care Center is opened and / or closed in accordance with established P&Ps as it applies to SFS operations.
* Adhere to and promote established safety procedures for partners, guests, and pets.
Work Environment
The majority of job duties are conducted indoors, although guest carryouts and veterinary visits will require that a partner leave the PCC briefly. Because this position requires bending, kneeling, moving merchandise (up to 50 pounds, as necessary) and standing for long periods of time, there may be risk of injury resulting from not following procedures. Ability and willingness to a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends to meet PCC needs.

Position Overview
As an Operations Specialist in Animal Care, your role will be to ensure that proper animal care and husbandry is being provided for all companion animals and aquatic life in the Pet Care Center (PCC). You'll be the primary resource regarding animal care and maintenance. This position will support the achievement of the PCC's budgeted sales and shrink goals. You'll ensure our merchandising and inventory strategies are executed across the Pet Care Center with your primary focus in companion animals and aquatic life.
