This position reports to the Veterinary Services Pharmacy Supervisor. WHAT YOU WILL DO Provide assistance to the Registered Vet Tech Team including but not limited to, surgical pack preparation, doing surgical laundry, changing out oxygen tanks, instrument cleaning and sterilization, stocking and cleaning treatment rooms and pharmacy and surgical suite as well as the veterinary truck fleet, maintaining medical supply storage room, maintaining medical grips and carts and setting up and cleaning up after medical procedures. Assist during medical procedures, including monitoring baralyme use on hospital anesthesia units. Maintain quality control list and calibrate hospital equipment. Assist with paperwork for next day medical procedures. Conduct inventory for pharmacy on a weekly basis. Transport biological samples to the Clinical Laboratory. WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR This position requires successful completion of a Physical Ability Test, possession of current rabies and measles vaccination, and satisfactory completion of a Tuberculosis (TB) Test. JOB EXPERIENCE Some experience in a veterinary setting is preferred. EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATIONS Associate degree preferred and/or relevant coursework is preferred. SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE Working knowledge of laboratory procedures in the analysis of biological samples. Human CPR and first aid is desirable. Able to operate moderately complex computer software programs. Demonstrated ability to work with teams and communicate effectively with others. Collect specimens and perform routine laboratory procedures and tests. Dispense and administer medications as prescribed by veterinarians. Administer fluids prescribed by the veterinarian.
