Basic Qualifications

Work Environment
The majority of job duties are conducted indoors, although guest carryouts and veterinary visits will require that a partner leave the PCC briefly. Under the management of the Veterinarian and the Technician Supervisor, the technician will assist in providing quality care to all animals at Washington Blvd Animal Hospital. The technician/tech assistant will coordinate and perform various duties involving patient care and client education.
Daily responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Follow digital treatment plans prescribed by DVM
Safe and effective patient handling and restraint
Knowledge of preventative care and vaccines
Competency in emergency and surgical care - including IV catheter placement

Administer sedation for minor procedures
Administer and monitor general anesthesia, if required
Maintain accurate, complete digital medical records
Maintain a clean work environment to include following any infectious disease protocols, handling medical/biomedical, and infectious waste appropriately

Position Overview
* The Veterinary Technician supports hospital operations by providing dedicated quality veterinary care and exceptional service to our patients and clients. Responsibilities include providing patient care by determining animal requirements, conducting examinations and diagnostic procedures, assisting during surgery and operations, providing nursing care, assisting with feeding and caring for patients, maintaining medical supplies and equipment, overseeing triage and discharging patients, and maintaining patient medical records.
Key Responsibilities
* Determine animal requirements by conducting examinations and interviews, reviewing care plans and records, completing laboratory tests and studies, and diagnostic imaging.
* Care for patients by taking vital signs, collecting samples, administering medications, drugs, and vaccines, and bandaging and wrapping wounds.

* Obtain and verify medications.

Qualifications (Required)

The Animal Care Specialist I is responsible for providing high-quality care to the animals within PetSpace, ensuring proper cleaning protocols for all animal care areas, and following proper training and enrichment protocols.
