About the job: The Overnight Veterinary Technician position will assist the hospital in delivering
excellent care to all of our patients within the hospital. Perform Veterinary Technician duties pursuant to Wheat Ridge Animal Hospital protocols. How you'll make a difference
Monitor and appropriately document patient vital signs and activity
Provide all technical support to emergency veterinarians
Provide comfort, diagnostic, surgical and nursing care to all patients including critical care
patients
Perform basic, emergent, and critical care anesthetic monitoring
Obtain and prepare samples for diagnostic testing including but not limited to blood draws,
arterial blood gas sampling, cystocentesis, urinary catheter sampling and free catch urine
Perform various laboratory procedures including but not limited to blood typing, cross
matching, and slide agglutination testing
Accurately take and process abdominal, thoracic, appendicular, spinal, and skull radiograph
while following appropriate radiation safety protocols

Your Role as an ER/ICU Registered Veterinary Technician

Take history from client. Perform physical assessments and record observations legibly in medical record.

Assist veterinarian in all aspects during surgical procedures; pre-medication, set up, induction, preparation, maintenance of general anesthesia, surgical monitoring, surgical assisting, recovery, writing post op orders and pain management protocols.
Provide and monitor all nursing care as requested by veterinarian for patients admitted to hospital, including medications (all routes) and monitoring.
Admit and discharge patients to hospital by following all admission and discharge protocols. Educate clients on admit/discharge.
Clean and restock exam rooms, treatment areas, hospital wards and other areas as requested.
Dispense veterinarian approved medication, patient food, printing treatment sheets, discharge instructions, cage card labels, x ray and lab labels, recording communication with client and doctors, and others as directed by veterinarian.

Current CACVT certification
