Assist veterinarian in all aspects during surgical procedures; pre-medication, set up, induction, preparation, maintenance of general anesthesia, surgical monitoring, surgical assisting, recovery, writing post op orders and pain management protocols. Provide and monitor all nursing care as requested by veterinarian for patients admitted to hospital, including medications (all routes) and monitoring. Admit and discharge patients to hospital by following all admission and discharge protocols. Educate clients on admit/discharge. Clean and restock exam rooms, treatment areas, hospital wards and other areas as requested. Dispense veterinarian approved medication, patient food, printing treatment sheets, discharge instructions, cage card labels, x ray and lab labels, recording communication with client and doctors, and others as directed by veterinarian. Prepare patients for discharge to owners including client education about home care and medication to be given. REQUIREMENTS and QUALIFICATIONS: Current CACVT certification At least 3 years of clinical veterinary hospital experience is preferred.
