What You'll Do:
Perform venipuncture and place IV catheters accurately and efficiently

Our LVT/RVTs Have:
Current certification as a Licensed or Registered Veterinary Technician (LVT/RVT)
Prior experience in a clinical veterinary setting, including hands-on anesthesia, surgery, and dentistry

Job Summary and Qualifications
Under the general supervision of the Blood Bank Section Manager provides technical leadership and oversight for the personnel in the section/laboratory. Plans and coordinates daily activities for laboratory personnel. Provides documentation and makes recommendations to the manager for performance evaluations and/or disciplinary action of section/laboratory employees. Performs preanalytic, analytic, and post-analytic biochemical/hematologic testing responsibilities. Investigates technical, instrumental, and/or physiologic causes of unexpected test results. Monitors quality control and inventory of supplies and reagents. Maintains a safe work area. Demonstrates professional work habits and interpersonal skills. Participates in performance improvement activities, evaluation of new test methodologies/instrumentation, and management of laboratory data. Correlates abnormal laboratory data with pathologic states to determine validity and/or whether follow-up tests should be performed; teaches theory and procedures using educational methodology to clinical laboratory science (medical technology) students; assists with the orientation and training of MLT/CLT, Non-registered MT/CLS, and Registered MT/CLS employees. The primary analytic testing responsibilities for the employee will be in the Chemistry (includes Hematology, Urinalysis, Chemistry, Special Chemistry) section of the Laboratory.
What qualifications you will need:
Bachelors Degree as a (MT-AAB) Medical Technologist, or (MLS) Medical Laboratory Scientist
3 years experience in an accredited laboratory required
2 years experience in the technical area preferred
Hospital laboratory experience preferred

Under the direction of the Shelter Veterinarian/Clinic Supervisor, this position will assist with assuring the medical health and well-being of shelter animals, including but not limited to assisting with surgical procedures, preparing surgical instruments, entering data into computerized medical database, administering vaccinations and medications, performing diagnostic tests, assisting with euthanasia, maintaining the facility in a clean and orderly manner incompliance with shelter protocols, and utilizing knowledge of medical, behavioral and general care protocols for the health and well-being of the animals. Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent required, with experience in animal welfare and shelter operations or high-volume spay/neuter clinics preferred. Veterinary Technician Certification preferred but will consider applicant with equivalent experience. Must be skilled in animal handling and have general knowledge of a variety of animal species and their health, care, behavior, common diseases, and medical conditions, and behavior. The qualified candidate will be proficient in oral and written communication, computer usage and the use of basic computer programs, with a strong customer service background and the ability to multitask, prioritize and manage time efficiently. Must have an understanding of veterinary terminology, procedures and animal health issues, and possess knowledge of veterinary surgical operations, monitoring, preparation and equipment including drugs and instruments. Must possess a valid driver's license and complete required NIMS level training within the first six months of hire.
Physical Demands: Strength and agility sufficient to lift and maneuver up to 50 pounds frequently and up to 100 pounds with reasonable accommodations. Ability to handle and control animals of various species, size and temperament, including aggressive and dangerous animals. Standing on feet for 8 hours per day. Extended periods of standing, walking, and animal handling.
Typical Working Conditions: Work is performed in a clinic/shelter setting. Exposure to difficult public contacts. Exposure to animals of all types and temperaments, zoonotic diseases, potentially hazardous work areas, animal feces, dirty or unsanitary conditions and caustic chemicals. Noise levels in the shelter vary but may be moderate to high at times.

Nature of Supervision:

Key Responsibilities:

* Pharmacy Assistance: Assist with dispensing medications as directed by the veterinarian, prepare prescription labels, and appropriately package medication.
* Safety & Technical Skills: Follow DEA, OSHA, and hospital safety guidelines; administer SQ, IM, and IV injections; perform laboratory tests, radiographs, and electrocardiograms; place IV catheters; perform emergency treatments such as bleeding control and external cardiac massage.

The majority of job duties are conducted indoors, although guest carryouts and veterinary visits will require that a partner leave the PCC briefly.
