Schedule: Variable hours to include weekends, holidays, and emergencies as requested.

Qualifications:
Minimum Degree Requirements:
Minimum of an associate degree or equivalent in veterinary technology or a related field.
Education and Certification Requirements:
A minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role within a research environment. A minimum of 3 years veterinary technical experience in support of nonhuman primates in a research setting
AALAS LAT certification required within 12 months of hire
Formal training and experience in handling Old World non-human primates, rodents, swine, ferrets, and rabbits
Required certification in animal handling and care per the Animal Welfare Act and related guidelines.
Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) or Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) preferred.
Skills and Qualifications:
Strong understanding of laboratory animal science and welfare.
Familiarity with surgical suite maintenance and GLP requirements.

Responsibilities:
Administer medications and substances by injection, orally, or topically.

Collect blood and other bio samples as required.
Maintain animal medical records, including Good Laboratory Practice (GLP)-compliant entries.
Conduct routine health checks and ensure the handling and restraint of animals are conducted safely and humanely.
Ensure proper maintenance of the surgical suite and learn additional relevant skills.
Work collaboratively with research teams and provide technical expertise.
Ensure compliance with the Animal Welfare Act, Public Law 99-158, Army Regulation 40-33, and applicable accreditation standards (e.g., AAALAC).
Work Environment and Physical Requirements:
Work involves prolonged periods in auditory and physical isolation, including ABSL-3 and ABSL-4 containment areas.
Exposure to hazardous infectious agents, biohazards, and other laboratory risks.
Physical duties include standing, walking, lifting up to 50 pounds, and handling animals in various containment environments.

Job Description
We are growing and need to hire Veterinary Technicians and Licensed Veterinary Technicians (LVT) to join our fast-paced clinic and team. These candidates will have an outstanding attitude and be proficient in providing support to our team of veterinarians while delivering the best service to our clients. They will also work to form a team in our clinic by promoting teamwork and respect. The Veterinary Technician/LVT will lead and naturally implement to our group's cultural tenets.
You will:
Review vaccination records and prepare vaccines according to our vaccine protocol.
Support veterinarians in procedures using accurate restraint; know how to restrain fractious patients.
Assist veterinarian in surgical procedures using proper aseptic technique.
Maintain and use equipment such as IDEXX Procyte/CatalystOne and autoclave.
Perform routine laboratory procedures and analyses in hematology, microbiology, urinalysis, and serology.
Prepare samples for outside laboratory analysis.
Monitor patients under anesthesia.
Induce anesthesia and intubate a patient.
Coordinate treatments and injections following the instructions of a doctor or a treatment form.
Initiate emergency procedures; triage patients.
Maintain pharmacy records, and controlled drug, anesthesia logs.
Take radiographs, with knowledge of accurate positioning and techniques.
Take vital signs of animals including temperature, pulse, and respiration.
Perform dental cleanings.
Perform and analyze skin and ear cytologies.
Perform catheterization- urinary and venous.
Complete anal gland expression, ear cleanings, and nail trims
Assist in maintaining and preparing records, consent forms, other documents.
Support out other team members as needed.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent.
3+ years of experience.
Bilingual, a great plus.
Veterinary Technician Certification or Licensure (CVT, RVT, LVT, or LVMT) highly preferred but not required
Professional appearance required; scrubs are to be worn at all times.
Must be able to work selected schedule with may include weekends (Saturdays) & holidays if clinic is open.
Must be 18 years or older.
Work well independently and in a group.

Responsibilities
The Veterinary Technician Assistant (TA) is responsible for maintaining excellent patient care and operational productivity by helping the Veterinary Technician (VT) leverage their time and efforts to meet the needs of our clients and patients. A day in the life:

Effectively partner with the Veterinarian and Veterinary Technician (VT) Teams to administer proper patient triage protocol based on the client and facilities' needs and capabilities in a fast-paced and effective manner.
Aid Veterinary Technicians (VT) with booked appointments, walk-ins, and work-ins, including recording observations/treatment plans in the patient file, and aid in the performance of medical treatments under doctor supervision.
Assist the Client Service Specialist team when needed
