BluePearl Pet Hospital is hiring experienced Veterinary Technicians or Assistants to work in our busy Emergency department.
Pay Range (VA I - RVT IV): $21.30 - $49.15 / hour
This pay band is a starting point and is dependent on experience and advancement through CareerTrax leveling system.
We also offer competitive shift differential pay for eligible hours worked for nights and weekends.
*Shift differentials are based on a 4-hour minimum.
For example:
Mon - Fri: 6pm to 8am = $4.00 Shift Differential
Sat & Sun: 8am to 6pm = $4.00 Shift Differential
Sat & Sun: 6pm to 8am = $5.50 Shift Differential

As an Emergency Veterinary Technician, you will:
Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia in patients and use anesthesia/monitoring equipment.
Triage emergency cases as they arrive at the hospital including obtaining vitals such as temperature heart rate, respiratory rate and blood pressure.
Perform digital radiography using proper technique including proper positioning of patients.
Have a complete understanding of normal ranges of patient vital signs, including but not limited to heart and respiratory rate, temperature, blood pressure and oxygen saturation.
Obtain and interpret blood pressure and other vital signs and alert Veterinarian to changes and issues.
Identify patients at risk for arrest and initiate CPR.
Properly calculate medical math (including constant rate infusions) and administer medications via appropriate routes and duration.
Are proficient at performing phlebotomy and placing intravenous catheters in all peripheral vessels.
Place and maintain feeding tubes and central line catheters.
Have a passion for mentoring and training other co-workers.
Have patience and empathy to address client concerns.

Maintain solid grasp of common veterinary medical terms and abbreviations and is able to converse with other veterinary professionals in medical terms.
Address client concerns and answer them appropriately during visits, updates, or after hospitalization. Quickly and competently facilitates incoming calls.
Have the knowledge of the tumor types.
Understand diagnostic work-up protocols (including oncology specific terminology for each tumor/cancer type per each hospital's protocol.
Possess a working knowledge of anesthesia/monitoring equipment and assist with patients assigned ASA I or II classifications.
Remain current on R.E.C.O.V.E.R CPR guidelines and demonstrates proficiency in designated role as assigned by attending clinician and/or supervisor.

As a Neurology Veterinary Technician you'll play an important role in pets' lives by providing end-to-end care for our precious patients. Your life-changing work will range from the hands-on care of facilitating outpatient treatments and performing laboratory tests, to support services including admitting and discharging patients.
Role Responsibilities:
●Strong client communication skills are a must: technicians obtain histories, present treatment plans, review discharge instructions and medications, and provide client education on more complex disease processes treated by Internal Medicine
●Anesthetic induction (RVTs) and monitoring of sensitive and potentially critically ill patients for advanced diagnostic procedures (CT, endoscopy, bone marrow aspirates, joint taps, and more)
●Monitor and perform treatments for patients requiring intensive management, recognize significant changes in the patient's condition, and notify the Doctor.
● Communicate with clients about individualized pet health concerns and offer guidance on Thrive Membership options, medications, and additional treatments.
● Assist in maintaining relevant, comprehensive medical records with the support of practice systems.
● Obtain relevant health history and information from clients and maintain medical charts.
● Use safe restraining techniques, follow standard protocols, and sustain clean, sterile, organized treatment areas, exam rooms, and labs.
● Be willing to guide, mentor, and support fellow team members.
Experience & Skills Requirements:
● Veterinary technician licensure preferred
● 1-2 years of clinical experience
● An Associate's or Bachelor's degree from an AVMA-accredited veterinary technology program preferred; or the equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Position Overview

Place and maintain feeding tubes and central line catheters.
