SUMMARY OF JOB PURPOSE AND FUNCTION

As a Banfield Licensed Veterinary Technician, you will work alongside pet health care industry experts to make a difference in the lives of the pets and clients we serve. ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
+ Actively recruit new clients by promoting hospital services, Optimum Wellness Plans, preventative care and pet health needs.
+ Manage routing the flow of clients and pets to ensure superior client care and maximum productivity of the veterinary medical team.
+ Provide professional, efficient and exceptional service at all times. This includes encouraging hospital visits, welcoming clients and pets, ensuring that they are comfortable in the hospital, educating them about their pet's health, performing or preparing procedures that do not require veterinarian assistance, completing preparatory work for other procedures, and monitoring hospitalized or surgical pets.
+ Upon approval from supervising veterinarian, perform veterinary technician appointments. All appointments must be under the direction and supervision of veterinarian and in compliance with state law.
+ Assist incoming clients by completing the required documentation, entering all pet information and history in the computer, utilizing proper collars and tags for identification, and ensuring prompt service.
+ Assist outgoing clients by providing all necessary instructions, information and invoices, dispensing prescription items per the veterinarian's instructions, selling retail products and scheduling future appointments.
+ Manage the finances by maintaining accurate balances and utilizing proper opening and closing procedures.
+ Act as the extra eyes, ears and hands for the veterinarian to ensure the best quality pet care and to maximize the veterinarian's productivity and communicate with the other associates to maintain the flow of patients.
+ Obtain relevant information and history from clients and maintain proper and complete medical charts.
+ Ensure the safety of pets, clients and associates by utilizing safe restraining techniques, following standard protocols, and maintaining clean, sterile and organized treatment areas, exam rooms and labs.
+ Assist with surgery as applicable.
+ Train and mentor new paraprofessional associates.
+ Quality check medical records, go home medications, regulatory documentations, hospital cleanliness, and timeliness of doctors seeing exam room patients.
+ Utilize technical skills to the fullest, within state practice acts regarding the duties of credentialed veterinary technicians. Conduct administrative functions as necessary.
Leadership Responsibilities:
+ Assist Practice Manager in developing an efficient, productive hospital team that provides the highest quality care and service to the most pets and clients, following all Banfield protocols and practices, as well as all local, state and federal laws, focusing the team to achieve practice priorities while building our culture and brand.
+ Support Practice Manager in hospital labor management.
+ May assist Practice Manager in the selection, training, and day-to-day supervision of the paraprofessional team.
+ Assist Practice Manager in creating an environment where a team can deliver quality, efficient and effective veterinary care to pets.
+ Provide effective communication between associates, clients, hospital leadership and Central Team Support.
+ Ensure all hospital associates adhere to Banfield dress and grooming guidelines.
+ Prepare whole team on cases scheduled for the day, assist with any transfers of cases from day before or external referrals to provide continuity of care, triage the treatment board.
+ Assist Practice Manager in identifying potential "bottlenecks" and formulating solutions to remove barriers in medical operations that would impede the doctors in providing world class preventive care and client service.
+ Confer with field leadership and assist with client resolution decisions, invoice adjustments and client experience exceptions.
+ Address broken equipment issues and assist in inventory management.
Requirements
Veterinary Technician Certification or Licensure (CVT, RVT, LVT, or LVMT)
Preferred Associate's or Bachelor's degree from an AVMA accredited veterinary technology program.

Primary Responsibilities
Support the execution of research and veterinary protocols.

Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or general education degree
Ability to read, write, and communicate clearly with team members at all levels, including division managers
Basic math skills and comfort performing addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division
Basic computer proficiency, including use of Microsoft Office programs
Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy
Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a team environment
Preferred Qualifications
College degree or graduate of an accredited collegiate veterinary technology program
Experience in clinical research, veterinary assistance, clinical treatments, or related fields
AALAS certification or ability to obtain AALAS certification within one year of hire

Reasoning and Judgment Requirements
Ability to make sound decisions related to animal clinical care and to recognize when escalation to the Staff Veterinarian is required. Must be able to identify issues within primate groups, collaborate with appropriate personnel to stabilize groups, evaluate diverse and complex situations, propose resolutions, and implement approved actions effectively.
Physical and Job-Specific Requirements
This is a physically demanding, hands-on role. Candidates must be able to stand, walk, lift, reach, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl as required. The role includes lifting and carrying up to 25 pounds repeatedly, lifting or moving up to 50 pounds occasionally, capturing a monkey up to 30 pounds using a 7-pound net within a large area, and walking stairs repeatedly with or without carrying additional weight up to 20 pounds. Candidates must be able to work in extreme weather conditions, multitask effectively, and distinguish colors. Vision requirements include close, distance, peripheral, and depth perception, with the ability to adjust focus.
Weekend and holiday work is required, with at least one weekend day as assigned.
Work Environment
This is an in-person, hands-on role within a dynamic research environment. Work may take place indoors and outdoors, in conditions ranging from warm and humid to cool and rainy. Noise levels are moderate, and adaptability to changing conditions is essential.

JOB SUMMARY:
Animal Care Specialists are responsible for the daily cleaning, care, and well-being of laboratory non-human primates (monkeys) in a farm-style environment. They perform daily cleaning, feeding, and movement of animals in various types of primate enclosures, as well as observing the animals in their care for health issues or behavioral abnormalities.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Animal Care Specialist must be able to perform the following tasks with minimal supervision:
Always consider the welfare of the animals.
Responsible for daily cleaning of various animal enclosures using a hose and pressure washer.
Accountable for feeding the animals daily and ensuring they have access to clean water.
Follow Company Standard Operating Procedures.
Troubleshoot minor mechanical issues (pressure washer, cage latches, stuck doors, etc.).
Rake and cut grass in primate outdoor enclosures as required.
Power wash and disinfect cages, racks, floors, perches, jungle gyms, etc., on a designated schedule or as needed.
Maintain all outdoor areas of animal enclosures, which may include the removal of dirt, debris, rocks, and bedding daily or as needed.
Ensure any diseased or injured animals are reported immediately to the veterinary division.
Observe animals for any behavioral abnormalities.
Safely catch and restrain strong animals, considering both animal welfare and human safety.
Keep records of various husbandry tasks performed.
Prepare, clean, and distribute enrichment items when needed.
Inspect enclosures frequently.
Be available to work weekends, holidays, and evening or early morning shifts as needed or on a designated swing shift (e.g., Sun-Thurs, Tuesday-Sat).
Be team-oriented and willing to work across institutional divisions in a professional and courteous manner.
Communicate any questions, repairs, animal injuries, etc., to the appropriate personnel.
Use cleaning chemicals safely and according to the label instructions.
Record temperatures seasonally.
Follow the specific biosecurity footpath as applicable to each facility.
Perform other duties as assigned by a supervisor or manager.
