Under the supervision of the Veterinary Services Supervisor, provides medical care for shelter animals, ensuring humane treatment and thorough assessments of adoption potential. Administers oral medications, vaccinations, anesthesia, and injections (intra-muscular, subcutaneous, and intravenous injections).
Enforces, controls, and maintains security of controlled substances in accordance with rules, regulations, and federal laws.
Performs laboratory tasks such as fecal analysis, bloodwork, urinalysis, cytology.
Assists in responding to questions from citizens regarding spay/neutering or other medical questions.
Responsible for notifying owners of impounded animals of any medical concerns and/or scheduled surgeries.
Examines, evaluates, and vaccinates shelter animals. Responsible for daily inspections of kennel population for additional illness or injury. Reports findings to the veterinarian. Assist with animal assessment rounds, scoring animals for adoptability and pathway planning.

QUALIFICATIONS:
A. Training and Experience
High school diploma, GED or equivalent and completion of college level classes leading to certification as a Certified Veterinary Technician.
Minimum of three (3) years' experience working as an uncertified Veterinary Technician for a Licensed Veterinarian and/or (2) years working as a certified Veterinary Technician for a Licensed Veterinarian
Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver License and be insurable by current insurance carrier.
State of Florida euthanasia certification, or equivalent credentials, recognized by the Florida Animal Control Association.

Educates owners on the importance of follow-up appointments, boosters, series injections, rechecks, suture removal, wellness exams, and recommended surgeries and ensures the client is scheduled accordingly
Handles Televet virtual appointment flow and scheduling, preparing and performing house calls, and helps with phone overflow as needed to ensure excellent customer service
Handles Rx Prescription approvals for in-hospital, online pharmacies, and client special orders and ensures clients are set up with our online pharmacy
Maintain accurate statistics to ensure departmental goals are on target. Adhere to the hospitals safety and wellness regulations; maintain a safe work environment, follow OSHA and DEA standards;
REQUIRED COMPETENCIES
Knowledge of DEA flow and the ability to correct any issues for accurate record-keeping and compliance
Know the range of services the practice provides and the species it treats
Understand Human-Animal bond, animal behavior, and predictability
Understand the life cycle and pathology of common parasites (intestinal parasites, heartworms, fleas, ticks)
Knowledge of parasite preventatives
Ability to educate owners on the purpose and benefit of regenerative & stem cell therapy, patient treatment plans, and surgical estimates.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• Assist with daily intake and discharge of oncology cases
• Assist with patient evaluations or rechecks by assisting in patient restraint, obtaining and submitting samples, scheduling with other services for diagnostic or consultation purposes, and providing treatment or medications
• Perform general nursing care such as venipuncture, catheter placement, patient restraint, treatments, medication administration, and sample collection
• Deliver Radiation treatments
• Warm- up and troubleshooting of LinAc
• Assist with radiation planning CTs
The service receives Monday - Friday. May require working earlier than 7:30am or later than 5:00pm
This is a full-time, benefited position and is considered essential personnel. A post-offer education verification, background check, and health assessment are required.

Non-credentialed $18-22, Credentialed $20-25
Required Qualifications:
Veterinary Technician I - High school diploma or equivalent and one-year relevant experience. Appropriate college coursework or vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.
Veterinary Technician II - Credentialed veterinary technician.
Preferred:
Graduate from an accredited American Veterinary Medical Association program for veterinary technology OR American Registered Radiologic Technologist.
Credentialed veterinary Technician OR Registered Radiological Technologist

Job duties include, but are not limited to:
Pet restraint, triage incoming patients, collection and analysis of lab samples, diagnostic imaging, management and nursing care of medical and hospitalized cases with varying degrees of stability, administration of medications, effective communication of treatment plans with clients, surgical preparation and assistance, and anesthetic management.

Qualifications
