Full-time, Part-time Description Animal Friends' Clinic Services program provides access to high-quality spay/neuter and primary veterinary care to pet owners experiencing financial and accessibility constraints. The Clinic Services Veterinary Technician serves as an integral member of the Clinic Services team providing quality patient care through all facets of our clinic operations. This position assists in the daily functioning of high-quality, high-volume spay/neuter, special surgical procedures, general practice appointments, vaccine clinics and occasional dentistry. The Clinic Services Veterinary Technician must ensure a humane environment while working with both feline and canine patients of all ages, breeds, backgrounds, health conditions and temperaments - including feral felines. Veterinary Technicians are responsible for educating clients about spay/neuter, vaccinations, and our standard of care protocols. Veterinary Technicians also play a significant role in our surgery department, responsible for inducing patients, preparing surgical sites using aseptic techniques, monitoring anesthesia during surgical procedures and recovering patients post-operatively. We are looking for: Surgery Veterinary Technician Schedule: Monday through Thursday rotating 7am-5pm and 8am-6pm, on call rotation Our Surgery team is a fast-paced environment, perfect for technicians that are looking for training in multiple facets of the department and interaction with the other teams in the hospital. This team requires strong communication skills to liaison between surgeons and clients and deliver post-operative care instructions. Basic Qualifications Minimum of one year of experience working with and/or caring for companion animals and aquatic life is required for this position. Certification Completing and maintaining of the Petco Animal Care Certification program is required in this role. Education/Skills In addition to a high school diploma or its equivalent (GED), an applicant must be able to demonstrate proficiency in the areas of mathematics and basic accounting relationships and exhibit exceptional communication skills. Supervisory Responsibility * Ensures that the Pet Care Center is opened and / or closed in accordance with established P&Ps as it applies to SFS operations. * Adhere to and promote established safety procedures for partners, guests, and pets. Work Environment The majority of job duties are conducted indoors, although guest carryouts and veterinary visits will require that a partner leave the PCC briefly. Because this position requires bending, kneeling, moving merchandise (up to 50 pounds, as necessary) and standing for long periods of time, there may be risk of injury resulting from not following procedures.
