A BluePearl Oncology Technician is someone who is self-motivated, a quick thinker, and is able to multi-task efficiently. Good communication skills and compassion are a must. Prefer to have a minimum of two or more years' experience in a specialty veterinary hospital. The right candidate will be responsible for treating and monitoring patients as well as supporting the clinician with patient care and client communication.
Pay: $20 - $40 / hour
This pay band is a starting point and is dependent on experience and advancement
As an Oncology Technician, you will:
Perform physical exam; accurately count heart, pulse rate, capillary refill time, mucous membranes, temperature, respiratory rate and effort.
Understand normal vital and lab parameters and alerts doctor when abnormal.
Perform phlebotomy.
Place peripheral intravenous catheter in cephalic vein.
Calculate basic medical math.
Set up appropriate materials for chemotherapy administration.
Safely dispense and administer oral chemotherapy agents.
Safely dispense, reconstitute and administer SC/IM chemotherapy agents.
Check chemotherapy agent calculations and dosages.
Properly shave and wrap for an IV catheter for chemotherapy infusion.
Have the knowledge of chemotherapy extravasation and what to do if it happens.
Admit Oncology patients and obtain thorough history including current medications and dosages, response to treatment and side effects, intensity and duration.
Discharge Oncology patients from the hospital, including basic client education such as how to handle patient eliminations after chemotherapy, how to handle oral chemotherapy at home, chemotherapy and radiation side effects and oral medication administration.
Maintain solid grasp of common veterinary medical terms and abbreviations and is able to converse with other veterinary professionals in medical terms.
Address client concerns and answer them appropriately during visits, updates, or after hospitalization. Quickly and competently facilitates incoming calls.
Have the knowledge of the tumor types.
Understand diagnostic work-up protocols (including oncology specific terminology for each tumor/cancer type per each hospital's protocol.
Possess a working knowledge of anesthesia/monitoring equipment and assist with patients assigned ASA I or II classifications.
Remain current on R.E.C.O.V.E.R CPR guidelines and demonstrates proficiency in designated role as assigned by attending clinician and/or supervisor.
Maintain hospital for day to day function and operation (stocking, cleaning, etc.).

Quality Surgical Management has more than 30 years of providing quality and excellence in bedside and clinical wound care management and our family of medical providers is growing. We are currently looking for a provider, Medical Doctor, Doctor of Osteopathy, Nurse Practitioner, or Physician Assistant (MD, DO, NP, or PA) to join our expanding team.
Our wound care providers are responsible for providing bedside surgical wound care services, detailed documentation, and excellent customer service.
QSM provides standardized training to all providers and the right candidate must be able complete two (2) weeks of at-home didactic training followed by four (4) or more weeks of field training in any of the states in which QSM operates. All mandatory training is paid, and travel expenses are covered by the company.
Essential Skills
MD, DO, NP (Adult, Geriatric, or Family), or PA unencumbered licensure or eligible.

Valid driver's license
Understanding of the importance of proper documentation and standard of care practices
Must have reliable transportation to various facilities

The right candidate should have at least three (3) years of experience assisting Veterinarians with patient care and medical treatments including:
Medication administration, vaccine administration, acquiring laboratory samples and processing in-house lab samples, anesthesia induction, IV catheter placement, monitoring anesthesia for surgical procedures, surgical preparation, hospitalized patient care, wound care, emergency care, restraint, laser therapy, digital radiology familiarity, euthanasia protocols, and possess the ability to communicate effectively with pet owners and medical staff.
Must be able to use Windows based computer systems, word processing, email, web search and type at least 25 words per minute. Basic math and writing skills are necessary. Safely lifting 30 to 50 pounds and proper ability to restraint animals are required as well.
Education:
A minimum of a High School Degree or G.E.D. is required, Certificate of Completion from an AVMA accredited school of Veterinary Technology or Bachelors degree is preferred and or at least 3-5 years experience working in the veterinary field.

Key Responsibilities:
Assess and monitor patients' vital signs and overall condition in an emergency and critical care setting
Assist veterinarians with emergency procedures, including triage, wound care, and life-saving interventions
Administer medications, treatments, and injections as prescribed by the veterinary team
Prepare and maintain equipment and supplies required for emergency procedures
Collect and process laboratory samples, including blood work and urinalysis
Provide anesthesia monitoring for critical patients
Maintain accurate medical records and documentation of patient care
Communicate effectively with pet owners about their pets' conditions, treatments, and progress
Support the team by keeping the workspace organized and well-stocked
Work collaboratively with veterinarians, technicians, and support staff in a high-energy environment
