We believe in alternative therapies, including spinal manipulation, laser therapy, physical therapy with an underwater treadmill, PRP, and Stem Cell therapies. Veterinary Technician Responsibilities:
Triaging patients, taking vitals, and acquiring patient histories.
Assisting with diagnostic procedures, which includes but is not limited to MRI, CSF taps, radiographic studies, and others.

About the practice: We are a growing, well-established, fully equipped, paper-lite hospital that just completed an expansion/remodeling project. We have eleven exam rooms, four smaller waiting areas, dedicated spaces for dental surgery, ultrasonography, laser therapy, orthopedic and soft tissue surgery, and have the latest technology supporting patient care, anesthesia monitoring, in-house laboratory, and a fully stocked pharmacy. We have an internist who spends one to two days a week managing our advanced abdominal ultrasounds, echocardiograms, endoscopy, and consultations on complicated medical cases. We believe in alternative therapies, including spinal manipulation, laser therapy, physical therapy with an underwater treadmill, PRP, and Stem Cell therapies. We manage cancer patients with chemotherapy and when indicated, cancer vaccine treatments.

What You'll Do:
Assist veterinarians during examinations, surgeries, and treatments.
Perform lab tests, radiography, and anesthesia monitoring.
Educate pet owners on preventative care and post-treatment instructions.
Handle patient triage and emergency care.
Maintain accurate medical records and ensure a clean, organized work environment.
Experience is a plus, but new graduates are encouraged to apply!

The tasks listed below are important for complete patient care and a well functioning hospital. All tasks must be completed to the highest standard to allow us to provide complete, high quality medical care for our patients.
Technical and Client Service Responsibilities
Provides skilled and compassionate patient care.
Performs all duties in accordance with hospital medical policies and procedures.
Performs triage, histories, and physical examinations; records observations on patients.
Assists the doctor in procedures; prepares patients for surgery; assists the doctor in administering anesthesia; monitors patients during surgery and recovery; administers fluids.
Gives injections and administers oral medications in accordance with controlled substance and hospital policy.
Assists in restraining pets when necessary.
Performs clinical laboratory procedures; draws blood for laboratory analysis; maintains file of lab test results and ensures that test results are recorded in patient records.
Takes radiographs and assists with ultrasound
Admits and discharges patients on the doctor's orders, ensuring that patients are well groomed and in a medically appropriate state. Counsels clients on various aspects of animal care; explains dosage/purpose of medications; reinforces the proper care and procedures that should be followed at home; makes follow-up calls to clients.
Understands usage and dosage for all prescription drugs and can readily explain them to the clients.
Properly cleans all surgical materials after they are used; keeps the operating room properly stocked and prepared for surgery.

Notify management regarding equipment or building facilities that require attention

Venipuncture, radiographs, dental prophylaxis, laboratory diagnostics, and vaccinating and restraining animals in accordance with organizational protocols.
Performing surgical procedures:
Safely and efficiently anesthetizing and preparing patients for surgery, monitoring patients at all stages of anesthesia, and calculating drug dosages.
Maintaining accurate patient records and cleaning and maintaining equipment, surgical quarters, and animal areas as needed
Using a welcoming, supportive, and non-judgmental approach with all clients, co-workers, and volunteers.
Assisting and preforming euthanasia services for shelter and owned animals at a veterinarian's discretion
Providing vaccines during vaccine clinics to owned public animals.
Qualifications:
Veterinary Technician Certification required
Experience in a veterinary clinic and/or animal shelter preferred
Able to partner with clients, staff, and volunteers from a diverse background

Ability to navigate emotional aspects of animal welfare work
Able to successfully meet the physical demands of the job, which include stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, standing, walking, pulling, lifting, grasping, and repetitive motions. Must be able to routinely lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
