Min USD $16.50/Hr. Max USD $24.82/Hr. The basic function of this position requires that the employee be able to perform rudimentary laboratory duties. A variety of tasks fall within this classification such as blood collection from patients of all ages; performance of CLIA waived testing/other specimen collection; maintaining the stock of phlebotomy supplies; knowledge of insurance requirements for laboratory testing; completion of paperwork to accompany specimens; and basic scheduling.
Qualifications
Education:
High School graduate or equivalent required.
Completion of a phlebotomy course, preferred.
Licensure/Certification/Registry:
Certification for breath alcohol testing and drug screening, preferred.
Valid CPR certification by end of first week of employment required
Experience:
Previous computer experience required
Other Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Previous phlebotomy skills for collection of samples on all types and ages of patients preferred.

Responsibilities
Complies with all federal guidelines and clinic policies and procedures including, but not limited to laboratory, drug and alcohol testing, blood borne pathogens, chemical safety, administrative policies and procedures, and corporate compliance. Applies the Minimum Necessary Standard when accessing protected health information. Practices within scope and current standards of care.
Assists with various aspects of diagnostic testing including obtaining and/or preparing specimens, labeling/recording, and communicating results. Performs miscellaneous CLIA-waived testing. Depending on clinic, may perform EKG's/rhythm strips, breathing treatments, pulse ox, oxygen administration and place/remove Holter monitors.
Adheres to strict quality control policies, procedures and manufactures guidelines. Maintains appropriate documentation related to quality processes. Accountable for achieving quality standards.
Assists with the ordering, care and maintenance of department equipment and supplies. Assists in the clinic overall financial performance.
Completes all required paperwork to accompany specimens for testing via computer entry.
Participates in the orientation and/or phlebotomy training of personnel as directed by administrative staff, supervisor or other authorized personnel.
Assists clinic in meeting goals related to quality and patient satisfaction by providing outstanding service and compassion while completing phlebotomy/lab tasks.
Demonstrates support for and participates in accomplishing team goals and objectives.
Performs other related work as required or requested

JOB SUMMARYThe Certified Veterinary Technician is responsible for a variety of tasks related to customer service and patient care within the veterinary practice. Tasks include animal handling, pre- and post-operative patient care, anesthesia monitoring, x-rays and proper prophy technique. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Required: 2 years previous veterinary office experience
Required: Active CVT license
Required: High School graduate or equivalent
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
Proficient in Microsoft Office software
(i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
Must be able to operate a computer, including basic typing skills
Must be able to learn and operate various veterinary software applications
Proficient operation of various office equipment
(copier, scanner, fax machine)
Basic filing skills

Effective in multi-tasking (prioritizing and accomplishing tasks)

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Maintain professional and courteous demeanor in challenging/stressful situations
Prepare and maintain exam, treatment, and surgical rooms
Greet clients and patients
Assist with incoming calls when needed
Obtain patient history and updates from clients
The ability to perform and/or assist with diagnostic procedures
Maintain accurate and complete patient medical records
The ability to calculate medication dosages
Review patient instructions with clients and distribute educational materials
Obtain blood samples-cephalic/saphenous/jugular
Process and submit lab work both in house and to outside labs
Clean, wrap, and sterilize surgical instruments and surgical supplies (gowns,
towels, etc.)
The ability to properly run an autoclave
Clerical duties such as filing, copying, and faxing
Maintain order to public areas (waiting room, exam rooms, kennel area, etc.)
Place IV catheters and assist with surgical equipment monitoring (anesthesia,
ventilator, fluid pump, etc.)
Provide general aspects of after-hours and on-call service, if applicable
Assist in medical trial studies and resident projects as requested
Other duties as assigned
Help retrieve the patient for examination during “curbside protocol”.
Restrain patient for examination with the veterinarian.
Take notes on examination results and updating records.
Set up patient in x-ray software.
Know how to transfer/set up x-rays.
Take photos of the patient. Print instructions.
Assist in inventory control of medical supplies.
Administer medications that the veterinarian has prescribed.
Monitor and track vitals during/following surgery.
Anesthesia: induction, maintenance, monitoring and recovery.
Dentistry: ultrasonic scaling, hand scaling, polishing, and general knowledge of the oral cavity, charting, MVDS abbreviations.
Radiology: full mouth intraoral radiographs, ability to use digital DR and CR systems.
Calm, comfort and properly handle animals before, during and after procedures.
Take pets for a walk during their visit and before they go home.
Regularly clean the veterinary facility, ensuring that it remains in a sanitary and attractive condition. Dry mop whenever hair/paper is on the floor.
Clean and sterilize the animal enclosures in order to prevent the spread of communicable diseases and provide a pleasant environment for the clinic's patients.
Clean, brush, remove bandages each patient before they go home.
Maintain veterinary equipment in a sterile condition, in order to prevent postoperative infections.
Possess excellent skills in anesthesia, written/verbal communication, and record keeping.
Have a positive and compassionate attitude.
Work well independently and as a team member.
Be honest, reliable and a strong leader.

PHYSICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Lift and/or carry up to 40 pounds from floor level and above at least several times per day
The ability to work in a stationary position at a computer for long periods of time
The ability to stand, walk, stoop, bend, twist, kneel, crouch, and climb for long periods of time
The ability to physically restrain all sizes of pets on the floor and on the exam table
Must be able to grasp, hold, and manipulate objects
Possess vision abilities to detect, observe and assess, including close, distance,
color, and peripheral vision, as well as depth perception and the ability to adjust focus
Potential for exposure to anesthetic gases with proper protective measures
Potential for exposure to zoonotic disease

The Technical Supervisor plays an extremely important role in team support & development and the execution of excellent patient comfort & care and overall hospital function. The technical supervisor plays a critical role in ensuring a smooth flow on the clinic floor and is a strong role model of the organization's culture, mission and values. The person in this role has a highly visible presence in the hospital and is accessible to the team. In addition to the general job expectations of every employee, the Technical Supervisor is expected to perform the job duties listed below. The tasks listed below are important for complete patient care and a well functioning hospital. All tasks must be completed to the highest standard to allow us to provide complete, high quality medical care for our patients.
Technical and Client Service Responsibilities
Provides skilled and compassionate patient care.
Performs all duties in accordance with hospital medical policies and procedures.
Performs triage, histories, and physical examinations; records observations on patients.
Assists the doctor in procedures; prepares patients for surgery; assists the doctor in administering anesthesia; monitors patients during surgery and recovery; administers fluids.
Gives injections and administers oral medications in accordance with controlled substance and hospital policy.
Assists in restraining pets when necessary.
Performs clinical laboratory procedures; draws blood for laboratory analysis; maintains file of lab test results and ensures that test results are recorded in patient records.
Takes radiographs and assists with ultrasound
Admits and discharges patients on the doctor's orders, ensuring that patients are well groomed and in a medically appropriate state. Counsels clients on various aspects of animal care; explains dosage/purpose of medications; reinforces the proper care and procedures that should be followed at home; makes follow-up calls to clients.
Understands usage and dosage for all prescription drugs and can readily explain them to the clients.
Properly cleans all surgical materials after they are used; keeps the operating room properly stocked and prepared for surgery.
Maintains an appropriate inventory of all medical supplies as determined by the inventory control system.
Notify management regarding equipment or building facilities that require attention
Maintenance of all work areas including but not limited to sweeping, mopping, emptying garbage and recyclables, laundry, dusting, cleaning countertops, kennels, restrooms, pet walking area, break room, and wet sinks
Assists other staff members as required, including the client service team when required.
Understands and carries out oral and written directions.
Maintains positive, cooperative relationships with other employees.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent
Credentialed Veterinary Technician (CVT, LVT, RVT) with active license in Wisconsin
Prior experience working as a Credentialed Veterinary Technician (CVT, LVT, RVT)
Preferred Qualifications
Previous experience using ezy Vet software.
Working Conditions
Ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and climb as well as manipulate (lift, carry, and move) up to 50 pounds. Lifting higher weights requires requesting assistance from another employee.
Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm-hand-finger dexterity with the ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard and operate necessary equipment.
Occasionally exposed to airborne particles and illness from patients and chemicals related to animal care and office equipment.
The noise level in the work environment is normally moderate.
