1996: The company is formed.
In April 1997 Viasystems added Forward Group PLC, a major U.K. manufacturer of printed circuit boards with plants in England, Scotland, and South Africa.
1997: The Viasystems name is adopted.
Viasystems continued to expand through acquisitions in 1998.
The final step in Viasystems' global ambitions was taken in August 1999 when it paid $325 million to acquire the Kalex PCB manufacturing division of Termbray Industries International Holdings Ltd.
At the start of 2001 Mills was upbeat in the press about the state of Viasystems and its progress in becoming something of a one-stop CEM, but within a few weeks the prospects for the company quickly soured.
Sales in 2001 fell to $1.2 billion while the company's net loss grew to more than $500 million.
Viasystems emerged from Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in 2003.
In 2015, TTM completed the acquisition of Viasystems Group, Inc, which quickly catapulted TTM into a leading position as a supplier of high-reliability automotive PCBs.
TTM acquired intellectual assets and technology from i3 Electronics, Inc® in 2019.
