Work Shift Job Summary: Administers all forms of respiratory care to patients in accordance with physician orders and most recent clinical standards to patients. Care will include oxygen therapy, administration of therapeutic aerosols, pulmonary clearance techniques, arterial blood gas draws and interpretation, basic spirometry, mechanical ventilation, emergency life support procedures and airway maintenance. Additional responsibilities include air/ground transport of neonatal/pediatric critical care patients from other hospitals. Cites AARC guidelines and remains current in the field of Respiratory Care. Demonstrates knowledge of clinical chemistries to include ABGs and basic electrolytes in both adult and geriatric patients. Skillfully establishes and maintains artificial airways in emergencies. Conforms to infection control policies and procedures. Participates in quality improvement projects as requested.
