About the Role

As the senior leader of Product Marketing, you are responsible for building out the Product Marketing function at Scorpion and making Scorpion products “fly off the shelf.”This role is not about doing demos or presenting product features (although these may sometimes occur). Instead, this role is the glue that binds Scorpion's product strategy to the tactics needed to drive success in sales and marketing and to achieve results. You will be the product advocate and promoter, playing an integral role in organizing product launches and setting the standard for what “good” looks like and the processes and systems to deliver that at scale.

You know our competitors like the back of your hand: what they do today and what they plan to do in the future. You also know Scorpion's buyers better than they know, including how they make their buying decisions. You back up strategic insights with market evidence and then use that knowledge to develop positioning and a message that resonates with buyers and empowers our sales channels to succeed. You are engrossed in tracking performance and have the data to prove what's working and what isn't.

You will collaborate with our marketing team to develop innovative programs that drive demand. In addition to the marketing team, you will regularly collaborate with product managers and sales channels; it's a balancing act that requires strong diplomatic skills, including knowing when to push back and dive in.
What your success will look like Build the Product Marketing function at ScorpionMarket intelligence: Be the expert on our buyers, who they are, how they buy, and their critical buying criteria.Understand the competitive landscape: Be an expert on our competition and its position.Collaborate with product management and marketing communications to develop product positioning and messaging that resonates with our target buyer personas.Understand and document our buyer's process, including where they get information and the who, what, when, and why behind their decisions. Then drive changes to our sales and marketing processes based on what you learn.Develop a marketing plan for the products you support in conjunction with our marketing team, including key activities and budgets to support the retention of existing customers and the acquisition of new customers.Assess the effectiveness of the marketing programs that support your products on an ongoing basis, and report to the business on required changes.Plan the launches of net-new products and releases of existing products, and manage the cross-functional implementation of the plan.Act as the primary thought leader for the products you support externally, including speaking engagements and written works.Understand and support our sales channels; train them on the problems we solve for our buyers and users; develop internal tools and external collateral and teach them how and when to use it.
Who you are and what you bring Bachelor's degree in business administration with an emphasis in marketing or advertising or an equivalent combination of related education, training, and experience.Pragmatic Institute Certified (PMC) III or higher preferred.At least 8 years of product marketing experience with at least 2 years of experience in a market-facing role (e.g. delivering presentations to customers and prospects, conducting competitor analysis and market research).Proficient in productivity applications such as Microsoft Office and GSuite.Comfortable using collaboration and CRM tools such as Slack and Salesforce.Familiar with marketing automation tools such as Marketo, and Google Analytics.Proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment that is both high-growth and startup in nature.Proven ability to lead direct and cross-functional teams with a proven track record of performance optimization.Must have an attention to detail and eye for quality are critical to success, along with an ability to grasp and present our products' value propositions in a way that resonates and clearly articulates how we solve our buyers' problems.

Key Responsibilities

We are looking for a Head of Product Marketing to align and drive MediaMath's go to market positioning. This role's primary focus will be understanding our markets, identifying our client profiles and key business needs, and collaborating with the Product Management team to develop a relevant roadmap that drives incremental product adoption. This role will oversee a team of product marketers who are responsible for bringing a product to market including positioning, go-to-market strategy and collateral development.

We're looking for a VP level Product Marketing professional who is excellent at understanding market trends and obsessed with data driven analysis and insights. We need someone who has the ability to understand client needs and can effectively communicate with the Product team to help inform roadmap and prioritization.

You will:

  • Develop and refine product positioning that communicates our unique value proposition and differentiates our products effectively
  • Build strong relationships, processes, and partnership with Product Managers to understand and provide input into product and marketing strategy and to design, plan and coordinate product launches across the entire product portfolio
  • Provide market insights based on customer feedback and competitive analysis
  • Define ideal client profiles and develop verticalized messaging based on specific client needs
  • Develop content for sales collateral and partner with sales enablement teams to train internal teams
  • Manage a team of six product marketers with effective goal setting and direction
  • Provide career development opportunities and mentorship

You are:

  • Able to manage multiple projects with competing priorities
  • Detail oriented and extremely well-organized
  • Able to demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, including ability to work well with and enthusiastically influence teams & stakeholders

You have:

  • A business, marketing or STEM degree: Bachelor's minimum, higher is optimal
  • 10+ years of experience in Software/SaaS Product or Sales, prior to moving into a leadership position
  • Demonstrated understanding of Product Marketing within the SaaS space
  • A direct background in a similar Product Marketing leadership role within an enterprise software environment, ideally SaaS and optimally Ad Tech
  • An innate personal interest in technology and how this is delivered to market
  • Demonstrated passion for excellence with respect to Product Management, Sales, Engineering, Education, and support
  • Extensive experience working with value-based technology products yielding a long sales cycle, ideally Ad Tech/Mar Tech or related
  • Demonstrated ability to understand market trends and client needs, bringing this knowledge back to product and sales teams in a fast pace SaaS environment
