As the VP, Product, you'll have accountability and responsibility for annuity business development and product development activity and business strategy for fixed and immediate annuities, fixed indexed annuities and variable annuities. You'll be accountable to the President, Nationwide Annuity for new business P&L, including profitability, and risk profile for these products.
Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
Oversees the research and development of product design requirements. Supports the project implementation team in all facets.
Facilitates client understanding of various product options and helps to prioritize options. Works with Product Risk Committee to gain approval of product design and pricing.
Participates in the pricing process, monitoring product statistics, and system integrations for assigned product(s). Maintains a thorough understanding of pricing, client needs, market needs, and sales positioning.
Fully supports the Solution Development Process, supplying people and knowledge resources to specifically support Phases 1, 2, and 7.
Responsible not only for the product development design requirements, but in addition, responsible for process design requirements as required by the channels through which annuity products are distributed.
Develops, administers, and monitors resource plans and budgets for the area. Responsible for all related expense planning and reconciliation.
Creates team objectives that are tied to accomplishment of business objectives and facilitates team culture that encourages ownership of team goals.
Serves as a key member of the Annuity Leadership Team and provides input into broader Annuity strategic issues.
May perform other responsibilities as assigned.
Reporting Relationships: Reports to President, Annuity.
Typical Skills and Experiences:
Education: Undergraduate degree in a business-related field. MBA desired.
License/Certification/Designation: FINRA Series 6 and 26 may be required. Chartered Financial Consultant, Chartered Life Underwriter, Project Management designations, actuarial designations (FSA, MAAA) preferred.
Experience: 10+ years of experience in the annuity industry.
Knowledge, Abilities and Skills: Strong technical and industry knowledge. Ability to execute and drive.
Other criteria, including leadership skills, competencies and experiences may take precedence.

Qualifications
To qualify for an IT Project Manager (PLCYPLN), your resume and supporting documentation must support:
A. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position and is directly in or related to this position. To qualify at the GS-14 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military, or private sector. Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including time-in-grade (General Schedule (GS) positions only), time-after-competitive appointment, minimum qualifications, and any other regulatory requirements by the cut-off/closing date of the announcement. Creditable specialized experience includes:
* Ability to handle multiple customer-service requirements.
* Ability to communicate orally and written to present information and recommendations to higher authority and senior management.
* Proficient in architecting end-to-end project plans by establishing a clear project scope, a detailed Work Breakdown Structure (WBS), and organizing all tasks within distinct project phases.
* Specializes in estimating the Level of Effort (LOE) for each deliverable, which ensures accurate timelines, effective resource allocation, and successful project execution from initiation through completion.
* A strategic planner with proven experience in developing and executing complex integration strategies.
* Excels at defining clear functional and operational requirements and establishing realistic project timelines.
* Adept at facilitating communication and coordinating with diverse stakeholder groups to ensure all requirements are understood, documented, and met, leading to successful project delivery.

About the job
As a Technical Program Manager, you'll be responsible for delivery of our critical business programs by ensuring your team is supporting key company initiatives while meeting deadlines and deliverables on time and within budget. You'll also need to partner internally and externally to understand and communicate timelines and team progress.
What You'll Do:
Empower development teams to support internal and/or external stakeholders. Work with the stakeholders and the technical lead to define, align, execute, and deliver critical business programs. Enable teams to rapidly provide value to consumers with speed, quality, and efficiency.
Partner closely with stakeholders, development leads, and product managers to derive requirements, assess technology choices, and engage in proof of concepts to bring solutions to the business.
Manage team backlog that balances pressing business needs, team stability, and tech debt remediation.
Facilitate all planning, execution, and delivery activities with a high level of integrity, accountability, and flexibility to navigate iterations and change course when needed.
Anticipate bottlenecks, assess risks, provide escalation management, and work with cross-functional teams to balance business needs with technical constraints.
Provide visibility and insights to leadership on the progress and/or risks of ongoing and upcoming projects and processes.
Requirements
Must have:
Attention to detail and strong organization, combined with the ability to work collaboratively in a flat, inter-disciplinary organization structure.
Ability to be a self-starter, have ownership attitudes, and be able to work with little supervision with a bias for action.
Bachelor's degree, preferably in information services, information technology, computer science, business, communication, or related area.
5+ years of experience in a similar role within the Software Development Lifecycle.
Proven track record of delivering high quality, high impact business solutions served by high performance technology teams with discipline in execution and culture of teamwork.
Solid interpersonal verbal and written communication skills to convey crisp and concise goals, requirements, plans, progress, and performance.
Ability to simplify complex ideas and problems.
Solid experience in iterative development processes with an adaptive, continuous improvement mindset to meet the goals of the business, the team, and the challenge at hand.
Good collaboration and leadership skills with an ability to provide great ideas and facilitate a win-win approach to problem solving towards the optimal solution.
Solid experience with the Atlassian suite of products (Jira, Confluence, etc.) or similar tools.
Solid presentation experience to all levels of colleagues (peer, management, executive).
Great to have:
Professional agile, lean, and/or project management certification from an accredited institution.
Experience as a software or test engineer.
Experience in the card brand/payment processing or telecommunications industry.
