Program Activities
While working with ERDCWERX staff, Fellows will have the opportunity to:
Gain exposure to federal government (ERDC) patents/technologies that are available for licensing and the nature of lab R&D activities as well as Jackson State University technology transfer initiatives and research activities
Participate in technology transfer-related activities in collaboration with ERDC TTOs and ERDCWERX support staff
Gain perspective on business strategies for innovation and patent commercialization
Contribute to marketing and market research strategies that result in targeted outreach and generate interest in patent commercialization
Connect with licensing prospects in the promotion of ERDC patents and support patent license applications
Become familiar with basic intellectual property terminology as well as standard practices and terms associated with certain types of licensing agreements
Complete a capstone project, with support from ERDCWERX and other mentors, that includes the creation of a commercialization plan for a selected ERDC patent
Candidate Requirements

ERDCWERX is a growing innovation hub that serves the technology transfer and technology transition goals of its government partner, the U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center (ERDC). Pilot Responsibilities Include the Following
* Acts as second in command and is directly responsible to the Captain; represents the Captain when standing watch
* Responsible, along with all crew members, for the safety of the vessel, crew, and tow, and for compliance with the Safety Management System
* Navigates the vessel in full compliance with USCG regulations, company policies, and the vessel's Certificate of Inspection (COI), when applicable
* Reports unsafe conditions, incidents, and nonconformities to the Captain and Port Captain, and takes appropriate action to prevent accidents
* Has the authority to determine when unsafe conditions exist and may refuse a tow or navigational area deemed unsafe or presenting undue risk
* Requests company assistance when necessary to ensure safe and compliant operations
* While on watch, maintains responsibility for the safety and welfare of the vessel, crew, and tow; sounds alarms and summons the Captain if a dangerous situation develops
* Stands watch in the pilothouse at all times, including when the vessel is tied up, except during dry-dock periods
* Ensures all required logs and records are accurately completed during assigned watch
* Communicates all pertinent operational information and incidents to the Captain in a timely manner

Job Requirements
Must be 21 or older. Must be able to obtain a State Video Poker permit, Louisiana vendors servers permit, ABO License and clear state background check (no felonies or misdemeanors for theft or gaming violations. ) Must be able to stand 100% of shift. General cashiering background or prior money handling experience preferred. Must have good math skills (add, subtract, multiply and divide). Ability to maintain a high level of energy and take a proactive and strategic approach to dealing with issues. Ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively with team members at all levels of the organization. Highly organized and detail-oriented.
