Responsibilities The Law Enforcement Analyst Intern position assists in analyzing crime patterns and trends to assist with resource deployment for crime prevention and suppression and to aid the investigation process. The Law Enforcement Analyst Intern's primary position responsibilities and areas of impact are: * Support Investigations by creating databases for analysis, extracting and verifying pertinent information, managing and organizing information, providing leads, performing data mining and proactively developing targets for further investigation. * Support Patrol by analyzing crime trends, crime patterns and other data to assist in identifying and planning targeted enforcement activities. * Produce visual exhibits such as charts, maps and timelines via computer applications. * Create Eden Prairie based intelligence/activity bulletins to share timely information with department staff, city staff, community members and local businesses. While these areas are the primary focus of this position, we believe strongly in teamwork and employees will be called upon to perform a variety of duties as a part of their role with the City. Requirements * High school diploma required; must be pursuing or have recently completed a bachelor's or master's degree in a related field such Criminal Justice, Social Sciences, Analytics or similar. Previous internship preferred. * Advanced proficiency in MS Office required (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Outlook), experience using mapping or computer-based analysis programs is preferred. * Work is performed in an office environment. This position requires the ability to lift and/or carry 25 lbs intermittently. Must have experience working independently with minimal supervision in a busy environment. Candidates must successfully complete and pass the City's evaluation of the pre-employment process prior to their first day of employment.
