  • Bilingual Housing Search Case Manager

    The Bilingual Housing Search Case Manager will provide high intensity housing search to help clients overcome barriers and access affordable, safe homes, to better their health outcomes. These supports are designed to increase housing retention. The Bilingual Housing Search Case Manager to the Program Director of Housing Search and Stabilization Services for weekly supervision and programmatic assignments. Victory Housing Division provides life-stabilization services, intensive housing placement services and case management services to homeless families and individuals. Our program helps families and individuals obtain permanent, safe housing solutions, increase self-sufficiency, and gain skills which support housing stability. Location: 29 Stanhope Street, Boston MA Essential Functions: Act in accordance with Victory Programs, Inc.'s Standards of Excellence always, including maintaining professional ethics, boundaries and client confidentiality. Ensure that policies and procedures of the programs are followed. Work with a caseload of 30-35 clients. In an intensive 12-18-month process, the search specialist will work to determine appropriate housing possibilities and create an individualized housing service plan including short- and long-term goals associated with stable, affordable housing. Work with clients to set priorities and take steps toward reaching these goals. Work with clients to identify possible barriers to obtaining housing. Discuss criminal, credit and eviction history. Request CORI and credit reports with all clients willing to do so. Proactively plan strategies to appeal housing denials and present mitigating factors. Attend all housing related appointments with clients, including interviews, appeal hearings, apartment viewings and lease signings. Work with clients on accessing, obtaining, applying for resources related to housing search and support for maintaining housing such as income support, health insurance support, identification documents etc. Maintain communications with housing authorities, landlords and private management companies responsible for administering affordable housing options. Contact these providers on a regular basis to remain informed of available housing, open waiting lists, eligibility requirements and application processes. Work closely with clients on all phases of the subsidized housing process, including completing and following-up on housing applications, researching available apartments, accompanying clients to all related housing appointments such as interviews, apartment viewings, and lease signing. Formulate and document individualized housing service plans for clients. Assist clients in creating goals that are achievable, concrete, and measurable and time limited. Maintain contact with other internal and external client providers, including, but not limited to counselors, case managers, and housing providers. Maintain timely and accurate records of all client work, completing all program required assessments. Maintain clear, concise and accurate client files and data-based records. Attend weekly team meetings, weekly supervision, monthly clinical supervision meetings. Attend All Staff meetings, monthly staff trainings, program collaborative meetings, attend staff trainings when offered. Research and identify available rental opportunities, educate clients about the requirements to qualify; obtain and submit required documentation, and assist clients in the application process for available units and waitlist. Non-Essential Functions: Participate and support the agency in program holiday events, State House rallies, fundraising and advocacy events, HIV/AIDS rally and walk, and any additional functions. Attend weekly staff meetings, in-service training and agency workshops. Attend additional training as requested by your supervisor to enhance skills. Perform any other duty or task that may be requested by a supervisor or the Program Director. Represent Victory Programs, Inc. in external meetings, as requested. Qualifications: Bachelor degree with 1-2 years' experience preferred, or High school diploma with 3 or more years of client advocacy experience. Relevant experience may include: Housing search. Housing retention. Case management. HIV services. Experience advocating for clients with government assistance agencies, housing authorities, private landlords or realtors preferred. Openness to harm reduction philosophy. Ability to work independently and cooperatively as a member of a professional team. Strong organizational, written, and verbal communication skills. Strong computer skills, including Google office suites and Internet use. Demonstrated ability to work successfully in multicultural settings with diverse client groups, including people with mental health concerns and substance use disorder. The Certified Recovery Coach will identify publicly as a person in recovery who is now using that experience to provide individual and group support to individuals receiving services through Victory Programs at our various locations. Location: The Jamaica Plain Recovery Center is a ‘recovery-oriented sanctuary anchored in the heart of the community,' delivering peer-to-peer recovery support services, and providing a safe, supportive, healing space for individuals in recovery using a volunteer/member base, guided by peer staff, to deliver services and provide multiple pathways to recovery. Essential Functions: Provide members with strength-based one-on-one peer support, wellness planning, recovery capital and pathway exploration. Provide support in overcoming barriers and navigating the recovery system, as well as the greater recovery community. Run a variety of recovery groups in Victory Programs' various programs. Assist individuals in identifying and/or overcoming barriers to recovery. Assist individuals in identifying, developing, and achieving their own personal goals. Connect individuals to recovery support systems while encouraging hope, optimism, and health. Assist in building skills that promote the person's recovery and self-sufficiency. The Driver/Recovery Support Specialist supports the program by providing direct care to the clients, running groups, ensuring that the clients take their medication, driving clients to appointments, and assisting with service planning. The Driver/Recovery Support Specialist reports to the Program Manager. Essential Functions: Provide quality, empathetic customer service to the clients in the program. Drives clients to appointments as needed. Understand and implement a harm reduction philosophy. Provide a supportive and trauma-informed environment to women in recovery who have dual diagnoses (mental health and substance use). Ensure that when clients take medication, all policies and procedures are followed for assisting and monitoring the clients' self-administration of medication. Perform interventions with clients utilizing a motivational interviewing/strength-based perspective. Responsible for medication documentation, including: counting controlled medication, documenting incoming medication and medication removal, signing off on medication as it is taken by the clients. The Landlord Liaison is responsible for building and maintaining strong relationships with housing providers to secure safe, stable, affordable housing for Paths to Victory participants. The Landlord Liaison will actively engage with landlords, property managers, developers and real estate associations in order to cultivate and maintain strong working relationships. The Landlord Liaison will create and maintain a housing resource database, including available unit vacancies and upcoming housing lotteries. This role will also be responsible for educating and advising case managers and clients on housing search and application practices, tenant and landlord rights & responsibilities rights of prospective tenants. The Landlord Liaison will also mediate to resolve tenant or landlord concerns in order to support housing retention for the clients we serve. The Landlord Liaison reports directly to the Program Director of VPI's Paths to Victory Program.     The Program Assistant is responsible for assisting with the day-to-day operations and maintenance of the Recovery Home, as well as supporting the staff by providing quality services to the clients. The Program Assistant reports to and is supervised by the Program Director or their designee. Location: Shepherd House in Dorchester, provides residential treatment programs for 39 women with substance use disorder. The program is three-to-nine months long and helps support the residents with co-occurring conditions, such as mental health and chronic health conditions. Shepherd House also serves pregnant and postpartum women, as well as infants, allowing new mothers to continue their focus on recovery. Essential Functions: Act in accordance with Victory Programs, Inc.'s Standards of Excellence & Philosophy Care at all times, including maintaining professional ethics, boundaries and client confidentiality. Ensure smooth program operations and a therapeutic, trauma-informed milieu. Responsible for ordering, purchasing, picking up, delivery and inventory of food and supplies. Provide guidance to residents participating in food preparation (including menu planning, proper food storage, sanitary and safety etc.). Manage linen supplies, including keeping inventory, ordering, distribution, collection and laundering, and coordinating laundry activities as necessary. Ensure that the program is maintained in a state of good repair, orderliness and is a safe hazard-free environment. Ensure safety standards are being met at all times and conduct monthly fire drills for residents. Represent program at bimonthly agency-wide Safety Team meetings. Maintain cleaning schedule for the program space including but not limited to taking out rubbish, sweeping and mopping when needed. Assign and provide guidance/supervision of client daily chores. Contact the Facilities Department for repairs when needed. Collaborate with the Program Director to assure coverage for all shifts including calling relief and/or other staff and arranging coverage staff vacation and/or calls, as needed. Assist in the admission of new clients by preparing bedrooms (i.e. cleaning the room, providing linens, pillow, etc.) and searching personal belongings. Assist in the orientation of new clients by completing admission paperwork and giving a tour of the program. Provide transportation for program clients, utilizing the program van, time permitting, and as deemed appropriate by the Program Director or his/her designee. Provide milieu coverage as needed, including: monitoring and assessing the integrity of the program's therapeutic milieu; empowering clients to act in accordance with the guidelines of the program; assisting clients in self-administration of medications; conducting controlled substance counts; answering phones and the front door. Maintain all documentation related to house management (i.e. work orders; mileage logs). Develop, implement, and facilitate and/or co-facilitate client groups and complete required group facilitation documentation. Input client/program data into Electronic Health Records and The Virtual Gateway (ESM). Make emergency referrals (e.g. detox programs, DTA, hospital and after care placement). Non-Essential Functions: Attend weekly staff meetings, trainings, seminars, workshops and rallies as requested by the supervisor. Represent the program(s) in the community and to designated funders, as requested by supervisor and/or Program Director. Participate and support the agency in program holiday events, State House rallies, fundraising and advocacy events, HIV/AIDS rally and walk, and any additional functions. Perform any other duty or task that may be requested from time to time by your supervisor or their designee. Required Qualifications: High School Diploma or equivalent or a minimum of one year work experience in the field of addiction, HIV, and/or mental health or a certificate from a recognized counseling program or course of instruction. Basic knowledge of kitchen management and procedures to ensure safe and sanitary food preparation. Ability to work and relate to clients in a helpful, directive, firm, yet compassionate manner. Ability to work independently and cooperatively as a member of a professional team. Knowledge of the addiction recovery process, or willingness to acquire it within the first six months of employment. Demonstrated ability to work successfully in multicultural settings with diverse client groups. Proficient computer skills. Current TB assessment (may be obtained upon hire). CPR certification (may be obtained upon hire). Three work related references, at least 2 from a supervisor. Preferred Qualifications: Experience in the field of addiction or mental health. The program is designed to provide a pathway to increased housing retention through rental assistance and supportive services intending to lead to retention in permanent housing. The Housing Stabilization Case Manager reports to the Program Manager of the Mayor's Office of Housing / Rapid Rehousing program. Location: Paths to Victory serves clients at our office in the South End and by meeting clients where they are in the Boston area. Paths to Victory provides housing access, housing stabilization, and wrap-around services to those experiencing literal homelessness and those exiting substance use treatment. We assist clients with moving into housing, accessing rental assistance, and connecting with all necessary supportive services. This program serves as a bridge to obtaining permanent, safe housing, increasing self-sufficiency, and gaining skills which support stable housing and health.
