The Orthopaedic Web and Video Coordinator will serve as a centralized position for developing, curating and promoting the on-line educational and informational offerings from across the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, including the Institute for Global Orthopaedics and Traumatology (IGOT) Portal, Global Help, and educational and informational content from each of the divisions, that needs to be developed and maintained on the Department's website, YouTube channel, learning portals, and shared via social media in alignment with UCSF's brand identity standards as posted at identity.ucsf.edu.

The Orthopaedic Web and Video Education Coordinator will work with faculty, staff, and global surgeons to plan and execute the vision for online musculoskeletal education with an emphasis on enhancing and expanding the educational offerings from throughout the Department on our various platforms.

The Orthopaedic Web and Video Education Coordinator should have knowledge of video production and web design, ideally in the field of medical education, and will be responsible for continuous quality and accessibility of the online educational platforms. This position will be accountable for expanding existing content and developing new content on department websites and educational platforms and will facilitate fostering of new international partnerships, solicit content from both local and global surgeon-leaders, and create engaging learning experiences. The Orthopaedic Web and Video Coordinator will also work with others in the Department to increase the social media presence of the Department and increase the utilization of our educational resources/content.

Final products should follow both UCSF and Advancement brand strategies, as well as UCSF digital and editorial policies.
Department Description


The Department of Orthopaedic Surgery is responsible for the department's academic, teaching, patient care professional services and research activities under in the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) School of Medicine. The department has over 250 academic and staff personnel at multiple sites (Parnassus Campus, Mt. Zion, Mission Bay, ZSFGH, VAMC and UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital Oakland).


Required Qualifications



Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training Three (3) or more years of related work experience Experience in website build, design, and maintenance (Experience with Drupal, WordPress, or related content management system/tool) Ability to perform video production and editing using relevant software Thorough analytical skills to conduct analysis and develop recommendations, demonstrating organization and problem-solving skills Strong analytical, verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills and strong collaboration and negotiation skills Thorough knowledge of organization policies and procedures, including policies that impact online course development Thorough knowledge of instructional design principles and learning strategies, including needs analysis, backwards design, learning outcomes and assessment design, and instructional approaches including lecture, discussion, activities, projects, etc. Thorough knowledge of the technical tools and platforms required to achieve the delivery of engaging and media-rich online learning content, and of trends in the use and effectiveness of educational technology and learning Thorough knowledge and skills with relevant business software systems Thorough knowledge of e-learning strategies including but not limited to courses (e.g., processes and technologies, etc.) Knowledge to conduct appropriate job and task analyses in the context of instructional design of technical or specialized training
