ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES: * Directs daily activities of a crew of electricians assigning work to effectively meet demanding production goals; creates a positive team working environment; provides guidance in the use of various machining techniques; counsels employees and provides corrective action as necessary. * Complies with craft and shipyard safety and environmental measures. * Reads and understands basic work specifications, blueprints and schematics. * Connects and disconnects all of ship's electrical systems. * Pulls cable and makes proper radiuses and crossovers. * Troubleshoots basic motor starters, electrical circuits, and equipment. * Work as a maintenance electrician and/or construction electrician. * Installation and fabrication of packing tube, multiple cable transits, collars, conduit, and raceways. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: Supervises electricians including input to selection, daily guidance and direction, corrective action and performance evaluation. SALARY RANGE: $57,000 - 64,000 POSITION SUMMARY: The Work Authorization Forms (WAF) Coordinator administers the work authorization process and oversees the process for the Work Authorization Forms and Technical Work Documents (TWDs) for all repair activities throughout the course of ship's availability. This includes ensuring that employees are correctly carrying out the work procedures, interpreting specifications, and coordinating various phases of the repair process to prevent delays. Coordinates, and orders parts and supplies as directed. * Writes accurate and timely records or documentation for each job and contributes accordingly to final written specifications. Confers with supervision and project management staff, and project inspectors and suppliers of materials, to resolve repair problems, and to improve repair methods of standard vessel maintenance work. * Prepares reports on work progress, materials used, costs, and adjusts work schedules as indicated by reports. Responsible for operating within the established budget and for monitoring project costs while maintaining required standards of quality. * Reviews employee training needs and cross crafts trades workers to maximize employee skill base. Confers with supervision, craft heads and project managers to recommend solutions to training needs in seeking out opportunities to maximize use of craft trades. EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: An Associate's degree in any technical skill associated with ship repair, and four to six (4 to 6) years of progressively more complex work experience demonstrating the required ship repair and production management skills; an equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: * The physical demands for this position require continual standing, walking and using fine motor skills for the operation of tools and machinery. * Ability to lift, carry 60 lbs. May require some lifting or assistance with heavy equipment. * Occasionally requires twisting, turning, bending, climbing, and walking over uneven surfaces. * Ability to sit, stand, bend, reach, kneel, twist, pull, push, grip, and climb. * Work mostly indoors in areas possibly exposed to external weather conditions. * Uses safety equipment. * Depth Perception (three-dimensional vision to judge distance/ spatial relationships) * Vision Near Acuity (clarity of vision at 20 inches or less) WORK ENVIRONMENT: * Work is performed inside a shop in which machines are continually running generating varying degrees of noise. * Work may involve use of chemicals, coolants, greases, solvents, petroleum and vapors and fumes. * Proper PPE will be provided as necessary.
