OverviewThis position performs parts preparation activities, applies powder-coat paint to parts, and performs some pretreatment functions.Duties and Responsibilities:
Sets-up and operates painting equipment in production area and troubleshoots problem situations as appropriate.
Performs prototype painting for engineering and the model shop.
Makes recommendations for improvements and may assist in designing and manufacturing racks, fixtures, and masking used in the painting process.
Inspects assigned work, tracks and records production orders, and may route parts using material handling equipment.
May perform pretreatment duties as assigned.
Follows safety guidelines, achieves and maintains quality and productivity standards, maintains an acceptable dependability level, and must not pose risk to self or others.
Minimum Qualifications:
Ability to manually and skillfully move around the work area.
Ability to discern whether a part meets paint requirements based on standards, which may include the use of electronic coating thickness testers, and must be able to interpret blueprints.
Must be able to read, write, and communicate in English with a demonstrated ability to follow written and oral instructions, and work well with others.
Ability to effectively use parts handling equipment.
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous liquid and/or powder coat painting experience preferred.
Ability to inspect work specifically for racking points, masking requirements, and critical appearance areas.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise maneuver up to 35 pounds with or without assistance on a routine basis and occasionally up to 50 pounds. Must have manual hand dexterity to grasp, operate tools and equipment repetitively. Able to walk, stand, sit, bend, reach, and occasionally kneel, climb steps, and twist throughout an entire shift. Some areas may be exposed to chemicals, noise, vibration and /or dust, and require the use of appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE); such as, but not limited to safety glasses, hearing protection, foot protection, etc.
Ability to wear respiratory protection and comply with OSHA's respirator use requirements.

The Production Operator in the pipe paint area is responsible for ensuring adequate, high-quality completion of our paint operations on our pipe product. This operator uses overhead cranes and manually applies paints to the product. Principle Duties (includes, but is not limited to):
* Mask / Unmask parts as required for paint operations.
* Load / Unload parts from paint conveyor
* Spray paint parts as they pass on conveyor with machine.
* Manually apply standard primer.

Essential Qualifications / Experience:
* High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
* Must be able to lift parts weighing up to 50 lbs without assistance, any parts weighing over 50lbs requires a team lift.
* Must have basic blueprint reading skills to interpret engineering drawings and specifications necessary to perform job.
* Must have basic math skills including addition / subtraction of fractions and decimal values for determining material, manufacturing, and inspection requirements.
* Must have ability to read measuring instruments not limited to but including tape measure, mil. Thickness gage, and fluid measuring units
* Must have good hand-eye coordination, grip strength and dexterity to perform paint and paint preparation using hand and power equipment at established production standards.
* Must have basic reading/writing ability to read and interpret manufacturing orders and material requirements and to report production.

* Forklift experience.
* Paint experience within manufacturing environment.
Hazardous Waste Handler
* Awareness and satellite accumulation (including but not limited to) caps, labelling, dating.
* Periodically removing satellite waste containers and deliver to less than central accumulation area.

POSITION DESCRIPTION
A Painter is responsible for applying protective and decorative coatings to a variety of surfaces in industrial and facility environments. The primary responsibilities will vary based on the type of painting required. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Visually inspect chemical processing prior to painting to identify failures and damage.
• Reports all parts that appear damaged or incorrectly processes to Finish Supervisor.
• Ensure parts are clean from dirt or foreign material from the part to be painted and clean them if necessary.
• Communicate racking position, set up, and layout to Paint Helpers.
• Assists primer painters on paint related issues as needed.
• Select and mix paint to match Work Order requirements.
• Review work order for missed processes and fill out and maintains paperwork.
• Apply paint to surface of the part using spray gun or pour paint into tubes according to work order call out.
• Maintain knowledge of current specifications and call outs.
• Follow hazardous chemical and waste handling procedures.
• Wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) effectively. This includes maintaining the area of the face where the respirator seals as clean and hair free.
