POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsible for the development and administration of scheduling and production control processes in support of fabrication/manufacturing operations. Manages the Planning and Production Control group consisting of a Production Controller and a combination of coordinators that support scheduling and production control activities. Responsible for providing the Production Management team with data and information tools to plan, manage, execute, and improve fabrication labor activities. Responsible for providing scheduling deliverables to Project Management for monitoring project performance and reporting progress to customers.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Assists in Estimate At Complete (EAC) reviews to assess schedule and cost performance.
* Responsible for maintaining asset schedules for yard infrastructure capacity planning.
Acts as Production Management liaison to:
* Project Management for the release and distribution of work packages.
* FP&A for collaboration in collecting and communicating cost data needed for continuous improvement activities.
* Responsible for developing, coordinating, and providing Production Management with reports and information tools to make informed decisions and monitor operational performance. This includes establishing and refining KPIs and performance metrics.
* Responsible for analyzing and communicates trends in schedule, KPIs, and performance metrics and may make recommendations to Production Management.
* Drives continuous improvement activities focused on Scheduling and Production Control processes.
* Train Project Managers and Ship Superintendents on professional planning processes and methods.
JOB SCOPE:
This is a critical position to the success of the Production Management team. The Planning Manager is responsible for ensuring the Production Management team is positioned to plan and execute projects with accurate, updated information and for maintaining systems that support the flow of information and tools to make informed decisions. This position operates with minimal guidance and supervision from the Sr. Program Manager while maintaining a high level of collaboration within the manufacturing team and across departmental boundaries. The Planning Manager serves as the communication conduit between the Production Management team and several departments that supply the operation with information for construction. This position is often involved in development and/or decisions regarding manufacturing planning and execution.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: The Planning Manager directly supervises the plan team and coordinators that support with scheduling and production control processes.
INTERPERSONAL CONTACTS:
This position maintains a variety of professional relationships and must be able to determine the appropriate level of communication and interaction for various situations. The ability to effectively influence decisions through respectful interactions with others both within the Production Management team and outside of the team is essential in this role. Strong command of and working knowledge of: Primavera Project Management software, ERP software packages, scheduling, labor planning, payroll and accounting data systems, database queries, report generation, MS Excel, data analysis, and manufacturing KPIs and performance metrics.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
A Bachelor's Degree in Business or equivalent is strongly desired.
Experience using scheduling and ERP software and performing planning, scheduling, and analytical functions in an industrial manufacturing environment is required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Work is conducted in a dynamic, fast-paced shipyard with moderate to loud noise levels from production activity in the shipyard. Will be required to be in production areas in yard and onboard ships. POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsible for specific project segments and activities associated with the profitable repair of ships. This includes ensuring that employees are correctly carrying out the work procedures, interpreting specifications, and coordinating various phases of the repair process to prevent delays. Coordinates, and orders parts and supplies as directed.

Confers with supervision and project management staff, and project inspectors and suppliers of materials, to resolve repair problems, and to improve repair methods of standard vessel maintenance work.

* Reviews employee training needs and cross crafts trades workers to maximize employee skill base. POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsible for supervising swing shift. Participates in activities associated with the profitable repair of ships. Under specific guidance of the assigned Project Manager, plans, coordinates, manages, and evaluates work required to repair or modify marine vessels that produce timely, profitable results and satisfied customers. The incumbent must be self-disciplined, resourceful, and willing to accept responsibility for yard and customer assets as related to the assigned project. Exercises appropriate independent judgement in adjusting priorities, goals and work assignments, methods, procedures and techniques to successfully facilitate vessel repairs and shipyard maintenance. Overall goals, budgets and priorities are established jointly with the appropriate manager where applicable. Progress and performance are monitored through periodic evaluation.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Experienced Ship Superintendent with a successful record of accomplishment on the type of vessel and customer assigned.
* Production leader on any project regardless of size or customer.
* Leads, manages and coordinates ship superintendents, subcontractors, ship's crew, and AITs across multiple work items and ship systems.
* Capable of reading drawings and understanding complex technical work.
* Ensures sequencing of work to meet key events and milestones.
* Capable of managing the restoration and testing of ship systems.
* Has a firm understanding of the Vigor Project Management Model.
* Is a business partner with the Project Manager in executing the project strategy, including increasing margin.
* Manages the Ship's Safety Plan and recommends changes required relevant to specific work in the monthly update.
* Manages the completion of test and inspection plan and ensures the timely submissions of checkpoints by all stakeholders.
* Understanding of scheduling principles and earned value management. Capable understanding CPI and SPI and recognizing the status of each work item and the changes needed to meet budget.
* Puts together staffing plans to meet budgets and adjust plans.
* Reviews all change orders for their professionalism, objectivity, grammar and effective mitigation of risk.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
* Knowledge of marine-related equipment, ship repair and construction techniques; sequencing of ship repair activities; shipyard safety practices; complex mathematical principles as applied to shipping activities.
* Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and employees
* Read, analyze, and interpret ship repair specifications, blueprints, general business periodicals, marine repair/shipyard professional journals, technical procedures, and government regulations

* Skill in operating a personal computer and various PC applications such as word processing and spreadsheets

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
* An Associate's degree in any technical skill associated with ship repair
* Four to six (4 to 6) years of progressively more complex work experience demonstrating the required ship repair and production management skills
* An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The physical demands for this position are light to moderate. May require some lifting or assistance with heavy equipment. The incumbent of this position is required to stand for extensive periods of time, in external climates. Requires the ability to walk over uneven surfaces and occasionally climb ladders and other ship elements. Use of tools requires manual dexterity and fine motor movement.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The work environment for this job is demanding and potentially hazardous due to work on or inside ships as well as travel around ship repair yard.

POSITION SUMMARY:
This position has full authority and responsibility for project profits and losses and manages all aspects of assigned ship repair projects. The individual provides primary customer interface throughout the project. * Plans, estimates, negotiates, staffs, directs the work, and reconciles final billings on assigned projects. As the top decision maker on the project, resolves any internal issues that arise over the productive, safe management of the project.
* Meets or exceeds customers' realistic expectations for quality, productivity and safety on projects, and manages the customer relationship through any changes in the scope and price of the project to assure continuing customer satisfaction and profitable project closure.

Where labor complaints or disputes occur within the project, directly or through managers, supervisors or other resources, assure that issues are resolved efficiently and with minimal disruption to the project.
* Leads the project team in a postmortem review of each completed project and assures complete documentation and dissemination of all lessons learned in order to capture best practices and to avoid repeating mistakes. Ensures that lessons learned on own and other projects are captured in the preplanning phase of new projects.
* Ensures that worker safety and environmental concerns are constantly monitored, and that problems are effectively resolved.
* Assesses and documents overall work performance of direct reports by close of project, providing feedback to same. Ensures performance documentation by managers or supervisors of all assigned project personnel. Clearly identifies strengths and weaknesses of project team members and recommends specific development activities.

JOB SCOPE:
The role operates within general parameters but must use sound judgment and independent decision making when carrying out job responsibilities. Has the ability to influence and recommend modifying existing protocols. Typically manages projects that range from $.5M - $5M and that frequently last 6 weeks or longer. The incumbent is held accountable for the overall guidance and consistency across projects to ensure profitable performance of the work is achieved. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:
The position manages as many as fifty employees either directly or through subordinate supervisors. Those managed have varying degrees of technical expertise and reading/writing skills, including professional level and hourly craft employees. He/she may have as many as four direct reports depending on the size of the project. The role operates at a more senior oversight level than hands on supervision. However, the incumbent's operational range must be able to reach from details to strategic levels.
INTERPERSONAL CONTACTS:
The Project Manager coordinates his/her efforts with managers and supervisors at all levels in the business unit and with support services managers. The incumbent must be effective at influencing and collaborating with other managers and peers not in the direct line of authority in order to perform successfully. EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
* BS in a technical discipline, or a relevant amount of experience, is required. An advanced degree is preferred in a technical discipline associated with ship repair such as marine engineering.
* Minimum one (1) year of progressively more complex work experience that demonstrates in-depth ship repair and production knowledge.
* A minimum of three (3) years of project management experience is required. The critical criterion is specific, demonstrated success in planning, staffing, coordinating and profitably executing multi-trade, extensive, labor-intensive, multi-phased projects.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Work is conducted in a dynamic, fast-paced shipyard with moderate to loud noise levels from production activity in the shipyard. The individual will be required to be in production areas in yard and onboard ships. He/she must be able to walk to and from job sites. The person must be able to climb inclined stairways and vertical ladders; to enter confined areas and tanks; to work at heights. He/she may be required to work more than 8-hour shifts and weekend. The incumbent must be able to frequently bend, squat, crawl, twist and may be required to lift up to 50 pounds. There may be local travel and out-of-town travel (including air travel) up to 5% of the time with notice. WORK ENVIRONMENT:
