Mission or Goal of Unit: The Department of Anesthesiology is committed to delivering the best possible anesthetic and critical care to our pediatric patients, to advancing research and quality improvement in anesthesiology and perioperative medicine and training the next generation of anesthesiologists through our residency and fellowship programs along with medical student teaching.
Chief Purpose of this position: Provide care to patients at VCU Health CHOR as assigned by the Department Chair or Chair's delegate. This includes preanesthetic evaluation, intraoperative anesthetic care, postoperative rounds, resuscitation and intensive care, therapeutic/diagnostic nerve blocks, and consultation in cases of chronic pain. Directs the activities of nurse anesthetists as assigned by Chair or Chair's delegate.
Position Responsibilities:
Teaching: Provides "bedside" clinical teaching of residents, medical students, student nurse anesthetists and others. Participates in the didactic teaching programs of the Department at this institution and attends conferences, rounds, and staff meetings as required by Chair.
Research: May pursue clinical or laboratory research and other scholarly interests independently but within the guidelines of the Institution and Department. Participate in clinical trials depending upon interest and area of specialization.
Service: May serve on various departmental, School of Medicine, University or VCU Health System committees as requested by Chair or determined via individual interest. the Department stresses the importance of being a good citizen of the institution and fosters community service at all levels.
Clinical: Provide clinical anesthesiology care to patients as directed by Department Chair or delegate including main OR and ambulatory areas. May supervise and direct Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNA) as appropriate. Direct anesthesia care in other critical care areas of the medical center.

Position Overview
The Case Specialist is part of the Civil Rights Investigations team in Equity and Access Services (EAS) and reports to the Director of Equal Opportunity. The purpose of this position is to support the compliance mandate of the office, which includes administrative investigations and resolution processes for all complaints of alleged discrimination and/or harassment at VCU. The case specialist serves as the initial point of contact for all discrimination and harassment complaints and is responsible for all triage and intake meetings and initial case management. The role maintains the confidentiality of all case-related information, adhering to VCU confidentiality practices throughout the intake, triage, and case management process.
The case specialist works with reporting parties during Intake and follow-up to:
* distill concerns into identifiable allegations of possible policy violations,
* identify appropriate university resources for resolution of concerns or address other needs (e.g. mental health, work/life balance, or financial stressors),
* refer issues that do not fall under the civil rights policies to appropriate university offices as part of the case coordination efforts with key stakeholder offices
For external federal and state investigations, the case specialist is responsible for conducting document and information searches, providing support in organizing case files and preparing chronologies and correspondence.
The case specialist, in close coordination with the director and investigators, will also assist in the delivery, maintenance, and tracking of civil rights training materials.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
The ability to sort through large amounts of information to spot issues that implicate possible policy violations, and identify an appropriate course of action. The case specialist must be able to express, in written and oral communications, complex concepts in a manner that is accessible to all parties, including students, faculty, and staff. Significant experience providing administrative support to include competencies in planning and scheduling, preparing reports and compiling correspondence. The case specialist must be able to work independently, multi-task, evaluate priorities and adapt quickly to change. In addition, this position requires the ability to exercise good judgment, take initiative and follow-through on tasks, and thrive in a fast-paced environment. Other requirements of the position include: knowledge of electronic document/case management systems; ability to conduct interviews, prepare case chronologies/summaries; excellent oral and written communication skills; strong organizational skills and ability to attend to details; ability to develop and follow internal protocols; proficient in MS office computer software and standard office equipment and technology. Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a staff member at VCU.
Preferred Qualifications
Training or certification in a related field, including civil rights investigations training (e.g. SUNY SCI, ATIXA, etc.). Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree in a related field is preferred, or an equivalent combination of college and related experience. Conference Services at James Madison University is accepting applications for multiple Temporary Summer Positions. These positions work closely with Sponsors, Campus Partners, and Conference Services staff to finalize arrangement of facilities and services to best suit the specific program's needs.
These positions will work primarily day shifts Sunday - Saturday from May 19, 2025 until August 1, 2025, 4 to 5 days per 7-day week. No on-call shifts (no overnight stay), but some evening shifts required.

Work with the Associate Director to develop and implement ongoing assessment efforts with the expressed purpose of measuring attainment of objectives and program improvement.

Assessment results should inform resource allocation, program improvement, and marketing processes.
Marketing:
Use various marketing mediums and strategies to disseminate information related to Fraternity & Sorority Life and associated programs and resources.
Assist in maintaining the Fraternity & Sorority Life website.
Utilize website usage analytics and other inputs in adapting website design, marketing efforts, and information dissemination.
Budget Management:
Coordinate with FSL staff to maintain all office budgets, ensure appropriate and effective use of available resources, and assist in the annual budget development process.
Collaboration:
Proactively develop and maintain collaborative relationships across Student Life, Center for Multicultural Student Services,
Residence Life, Student Accountability and Restorative Practices, Public Safety and other stakeholders where such relationships would promote efficiency/effectiveness in fulfilling the Fraternity and Sorority Life work.

The Technical & Operations Fellowship at Wilson Hall Auditorium on the campus of James Madison University provides advanced, hands-on training in theatre production & stage management, as well as opportunities to operate state of the art audio, lighting & video systems.
The fellowship begins April 1, 2025 and runs through October 28, 2025. The fellowship requires a season-long commitment. The fellow will receive a stipend total of $17,225 for the 29 week contract, which will be paid in increments bi-weekly. Duties and Responsibilities:
Mentored by the Technical & Operations Manager, the fellow will set up and operate sound, lighting, video, and staging equipment for a variety of professional and university productions. The fellow will participate in equipment maintenance, advancing events, and stage management of select performances. Daily activities may include event prep, show running, general maintenance, and basic office operations. Work hours will be irregular and include early morning, evening, and weekend calls.
Qualifications:
Ideal candidates will have a broad knowledge and experience in technical theatre as well as solid organizational and essential computer skills. Experience working with theatrical audio, lighting, and video systems is also essential. Hands-on knowledge of ETC lighting systems, Yamaha audio systems, and DANTE networking systems is helpful. An undergraduate degree in the arts is preferred.

General Information:
To provide lifeguard supervision for swim sections of KIN 100 to ensure the safety of participating students.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Lifeguard will supervise the swimmers in the pool area and carry out emergency response procedures to swimmers in need. Lifeguard will report any issues or concerns to the class instructor. Lifeguard will be prepared for each class and report on time. It is the lifeguards responsibility to undertake regular training as required for certification.
Qualifications:
Must be a certified lifeguard and able to provide documentation of such.
